Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is in a behind-the-scenes struggle with the White House, congressional Democrats and Washington insiders who have lost confidence in her as both a unifying leader and reliable party spokesperson at a time when they need her most.

Long-simmering doubts about her have reached a peak after two recent public flubs: criticizing the White House’s handling of the border crisis and comparing the tea party to wife beaters.

The perception of critics is that Wasserman Schultz spends more energy tending to her own political ambitions than helping Democrats win. This includes using meetings with DNC donors to solicit contributions for her own PAC and campaign committee, traveling to uncompetitive districts to court House colleagues for her potential leadership bid and having DNC-paid staff focus on her personal political agenda.

She’s become a liability to the DNC, and even to her own prospects, critics say.

In case anyone missed it, these are the comments that the head of the DNC made when talking about Scott Walker:

"Scott Walker has given women the back of his hand. I know that is stark. I know that is direct. But that is reality. What Republican tea party extremists like Scott Walker are doing is they are grabbing us by the hair and pulling us back. It is not going to happen on our watch."

Stay classy there, Democrats. The Tea Party sucks, but your leader sucks worse.

Yeah these types of comments should be condemned anytime someone says them. It's not just the Dems though, the GOP has their share of nutballs as well. Santorum comes to mind in the last election cycle. But yeah, these comments serve no real purpose except to rally the idiots that believe in that ****.

She's won 2 elections for them, now she must fall on the sword to distract from the mighty one's failures.

I honestly have wondered how someone who spews the lies this woman does on a daily basis can sleep at night. She embodies everything that is wrong with politics in america! And I'm not sure why anyone would expect any other kind of behavior from this self-serving lying troll. But anyway enough about that scoundrel..... good morning TB:2wave:

Not sure why she was chosen in the first place. People liked how opinionated she was? Does that make for a good leader?

Self serving lying troll describes her to a "t".

It's just now dawning on Dems that Shultz is a female version of Alan Grayson, e.g., a complete loony tune. Kudos for getting there eventually I suppose.

Wasserman-Schultz is such an irritating figure. Almost a Bagdad Bob sort of liar, the kind of person who will flat out tell you that victory is in hand for Saddam as the 4th Armored Division of the US Army is rolling up right in front of her. She's the kind of Democrat who convinces you that reasoning with Democrats is impossible, that compromise with Democrats is impossible, that the only way to get Democrats to stop lying is to get boots on their throats and keep them there.

All in all such leadership is to be avoided. I'm sure that we are all aware by now that total victory for one party or the other isn't in the cards, and even when it comes about that party can't get what the Wasserman-Schultz types want because, lo and behold! There are a lot of moderates in the party who will push back on the far left-wing program.

Better we should have leaders who can get along with the other side, for whom scorched earth is not desirable, who can make deals so that we can pass laws without having one half of the country dedicated from then on to undoing everything done.

I don't remember Rick Santorum saying a sitting governor is beating up on women.

There are nuts everywhere. She's unfortunately a powerful nut, not just a candidate.

Behold the message from the Dems. Republican men will beat you & pull your hair!

No instead he said Babies from rape are a gift from God. As for powerful, Santorum was running for the President of the U.S. Glad he didn't get the nomination.

Also see Bachmann as well in regards to homosexuals. Seriously yes, the nutballs are on both sides and in powerful positions.

No he didn't. That was Richard Mourdock.

Wrong Santorum said "I think the right approach is to accept this horribly created - in the sense of rape - but nevertheless a gift in a very broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given to you.”

Sorry but yes, he said babies from rape are a gift from God.

The original quote you posted was not made by Santorum. It was made by Mourdock.

I don't agree with what Santorum said because I do not believe a baby is a gift from God. That said, many people do. And rape is an awful thing - as he said - but in his mind the baby is innocent and it's not the baby's fault how it was conceived. If I hated my husband I wouldn't love my children any less.

That said, two things. I didn't start this thread and post the Politico link so we could debate nutty Republican words. And thinking abortion is bad and rape is bad at the same time (I disagree with thought 1 and agree with thought 2) has nothing to do with the head of the DNC saying that the Governor of Wisconsin is smacking women and pulling their hair.

Sorry, but when you talk about nutty statements someone makes it is quite within the realm of on-topic to make comparisons. I even agreed that her statements were wrong, but bringing up comparisons IS valid.

And the statement I quoted WAS from Santorum in a Morgan interview.

No, TNE, the original quote "Babies from rape are a gift from God" wasn't Santorum's. It was Murdouck.

Personally, I consider every baby born a gift from God or simply a miracle of nature. No child born should be considered otherwise, regardless of the circumstances of their conception.

Yes, you are correct on the ACTUAL quote. I also edited my original post to exclude the quotes in my first post. However, the quotes from the next one I did was from Santorum during a Morgan interview and Santorum concurs with the Rape Babies are a gift from God.

You are free to believe that. I don't believe ANYTHING from a rape that isn't consentual is a gift from God. Santorum wants ALL abortion eliminated even in the cases of rape and incest. That to me was horrible to force a woman to go through with that.

Sorry, I don't want to hijack TB's thread into an abortion debate - I was just voicing a view that many people have, that being that all life is precious in its own way. As such, comparing the Santorum/Murdouck statements to those made by Wasserman-Schultz was a faulty analogy because there are no sane people who would condone the latter while many believe and support the former.

Well I don't agree with you there. Just because some people believe that babies from rape are a gift from God doesn't make it sane. The comparison is valid.

To further the comparison, Bachmann's comments regarding homosexuals is even more insane.

As long as you say the same about every chicken that hatches to be consistent. It is just as "miraculous".

Speaking as one who was a baby at one point, what exactly is it that you are saying about such babies? If they are not a gift of life, then what?

This is not the topic of the thread, but I will say while I don't equate the two, I do believe that all life is miraculous.

Chickens and humans aren't the same thing, unless you eat humans.

We are all animals and all just as much "alive"in case you forgot. Some of us don't eat chickens either.
