Mark Levin

He worked in the Reagan administration at the DOJ. He's actually a serious thinker and might I suggest you read some of his writings. Both the parties hate him because he's tired of the DC bull****. He's also the founder of Landmark legal foundation who are in the process of taking on the EPA. Oh and one more thing, anyone in this thread wouldn't even be worthy to sniff his jock. Carry on

Don't sell yourself short...I'm sure you are worthy.

he is a clown show.

People hate him because he just shouts. When challenged to an intellectual debate, he runs away scared.

I have a real hard time listening to him. His voice is obnoxious, especially when he gets worked up or angry...and he constantly gets worked up or angry.

But on matters of constitutional law and history I think there are few talking heads on either side that are more informed and a better listen content wise regardless of the times I agree or disagree with him.

I do agree with about 95% of what he says, but that he refuses to participate in an intellectual debate over the few differences makes me think very little of him.

shouting down opposition is the sign of a small mind.

I disagree with this, ive heard him debate many callers and he's not afraid of being challenged. Now if you lie to the screener to get on the show, he boots you off. And as he says if you're a drone, you're gone and there is nothing that can be done for you. And he's right, how many minds of folks on the left have you changed debating on here?? 0 to none would be my guess.

he will debate carefully screened people. You think that is impressive?

He has been challenged to a debate that could net 10k in charity. He would rather speak directly to his echo chamber and has ducked the challenge.

They have no idea because they dont actually listen to him, they just attack because thats what their programmed to do. I think I'll go listen to some leftist talk radio now, oh wait there isn't any because nobody wants to hear it! Hahahaha lol.. deep down you know it's true.

No...its more like most of the people who sit around listening to talk radio all day are either old retired guys......or guys who are angry at the world but too lazy to work.

I respect Levin because the rule of law means something to him. I don't listen to his radio program but have seen him multiple times on television debating others on the issues. Instead of the Republican party depending on others to carry their water the legislators and leadership within the Republican party should be the ones debating the issues publically. Last year Levin suggested the Republican party have a real open debate on Immigration. He suggested Heather MacDonald, Ed Meese, the former Atty Gen under Reagan, and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) argue against the bill that is pending in Congress. MacDonald is a fellow at the Manhattan Institute who has written extensively on immigration and I recommend everyone check out her writings. To argue in favor of the Immigration bill, Levin suggested Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan (R-WI), and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, or any other outspoken supporters of immigration reform that includes Amnesty within the Republican party. I thought it was an excellent idea. It would be very informative and a learning experience for the people who viewed it. And if the Constitution, the rule of law was the measuring stick in the debate, those in favor of such reform would have been made into mince meat. It probably would have lessened the control of special interests such as the Chamber of Commerce and Grover Norquist who have poured millions into passing another Amnesty bill if such an event would have occurred.

Soooo you think people still hudle around the old AM radio sitting in a rocking chair?? He bud, its 2014.

I listened to him for years - we only have right wing radio and he was on late when I walked the dogs. The only 'debates' I heard was he'd take a call and a person would disagree with him. The caller might get his point made, but generally Levin cuts him off and immediately goes on a screaming rant. The caller tries to get a word in, Levin screams some more, dumps the call, then screams some more about how big an idiot the caller was. On to next call. Repeat.

So I think by 'drone' what you mean is someone who has ANY opinion not 95% or so shared by Levin. He's an intellectual coward in my view because he doesn't respect, or even tolerate a fair hearing, for any position he doesn't already hold and agree with nearly 100%. I finally lost all respect when he just continually blistered Ron Paul and libertarians because Levin is a big government neocon when it comes to foreign policy, and they're not. It wasn't enough to disagree, he had to personally attack Ron Paul and anyone who supported him as idiots, crazy people, etc.

Big government neocon?? So your feelings got hurt over Ron Paul, ok dont listen.

Like others I have a tough time listening to Levin because of his delivery style and he just doesn't have a good radio voice. And of course anybody on the left will hate him because he is completely politically incorrect so far as they are concerned and he speaks truths that attack their ideology head on. When is the last time you saw anybody on the left objectively analyze somebody like Levin? They won't do it. Nor will they challenge anything he says. For them it is sufficient that he is unworthy.

And he isn't a particular favorite of the GOP because he doesn't hesitate to air out their hypocrisy too.

But his books are brilliant. I challenge anybody to read his Men in Black or The Liberty Amendments and not come away with some really serious stuff to think about.

Never said anything close to that....but the reality remains. Look at the demographics of right-wing radio. It skews very much towards old age. The reality is, when most talk radio is on, most people are at work. Its the retired old men and the angry at the world too lazy to work blame it on the "illegals" crowd that sit around swallowing the propoganda (by and large).

Right.

No, I just lost respect for him. Two different things. And I don't listen, haven't for years, and I'm sure nobody cares.

Im just saying one thing he is not and that's Big Government. He pushes against BG everyday.

Actually he's on at 6pm est, so your comment tells me you dont listen. But to each his own.

You are correct, I Don't listen to him. I have run across his show a couple of times and listened for a few minutes and I've read some of the stupid things that he has said. That aside...my comment wasn't specifically about people who listen to him specifically, it was about the people who have the time to sit around all day listening to radio propoganda and why right-wing radio propoganda is popular with its sheep.

Well maybe you should listen more then a few minutes. Other then reading somebody's writings what other format lets you flesh out ideas for 2-3 hours at a time?? It sure isnt cable news. Just saying :)

Lets throw Ameritopia in there also.

Another great book of Levin's is Ameritopia. he delves into the philosophical foundations of both the left and right. He notes the political philosophers and writers who laid out the utopian vision from Plato to Hobbes and Marx and then gives the contrasting vision of John Locke, Baron de Montesquieu, and others whose ideas greatly influenced America’s founders. It's a great book and another that should be required reading in school.
