You may remember several years ago when you'd turn on CNN or any other MSM news outlet and you'd see guests as well as the journalists claiming that the term "alien" is offensive and insulting to illegal immigrants. They used that excuse to change the terminology, and from then they began referring to them as "illegal Immigrants". But it wasnt long before they began having other liberals guests on who would now make the claim that the term "illegal" was condescending, offensive, etc. From there, the new terminology that you'd see in the MSM was "undocumented immigrants".
But that wasnt good enough, because then they changed it again, and starting about 2-4 years ago, most MSM outlets and left wing sources dropped any reference that sneaking over the borders is 'illegal', and instead they began referring to them simply as "immigrants". Not much happens on the left that isnt planned and calculated. This was designed to advance the average independent American's support for illegal immigrants to receive some form of deferred amnesty, or better yet, instant amnesty through one of the so called "Dreamer bills". That term was obviously chosen to make illegal immigration seem more acceptable to the average American, and to vilify or intimidate any opposition so they would be more likely to stop opposing illegal immigration, effective border security, amnesty, etc. Its all about packaging and marketing!
But now they have found a new way to spin their own ever-changing terminology for illegal immigration. They are now referring to those who oppose illegal immigration or amnesty as "anti-immigrant" To call someone anti-immigrant is to falsely create the perception that these people are simply against immigration of any kind. That is to say that anyone who is anti-immigrant doesnt want ANY immigration even if its done in an orderly, legal manner. Of course that makes the left's opposition look radical and nationalistic, but mostly it makes them look racist! So we are back to the common liberal strategy of destroying the credibility of your opposition by deceptively turning entire races of people against them! Its also a form of fear mongering, because they can(and will) convince Latinos to vote for dems because the wonderful democrats will protect them from the racist conservatives and republicans!
So, why exactly have those in the democratic party and those with power and influence from the left been so staunchly in favor of amnesty, less border security, instant driver's licenses, social services entitlements for illegals, sanctuary cities, etc? Its very simple. Among the legal, American Latino community, the democrats enjoy roughly a 70% voter advantage. But as soon as the unknown millions of illegals are granted voting rights, they know that the vast majority will vote democrat! The dems have "given" them the most free(taxpayer funded) stuff. The dems have ignored federal immigration law and refused in many places to deport any illegal, even convicted felons( many sanctuary cities). They even try to grant voting rights to illegals in some areas, so that they can take advantage of that monolithic voting block immediately! You know the term "follow the money"? Here its "follow the votes".
It amazes me that at least some people who support democrats(like me 12 years ago) dont see through this and demand a stop to the racial politicking the democratic party lowers itself to. This stuff is bad for everyone in this country!
