Hillary Clinton blasts Hobby Lobby decision: 'I find it deeply disturbing'.....

e
According the Planned Parenthood...one of the pro-choice crowds favorite groups, the average price of contraceptives falls between $15.00 and $50.00 per month. Walmart offers them for $9.00 a month. Where does Hillary get "They are expensive"?

Don't forget, she was “dead broke” when she and her husband left the White House. Surely $9/month was beyond her ability to afford.

Hillary weighs in on Hobby Lobby.....once again putting her foot into her mouth. Do you think she wants to talk about her record with State and Women? Lets hope she will keep making a fool of herself while trying to raise the money she has been having difficulty with. What say ye?

Hillary Clinton blasted the Supreme Court's 5-4 ruling, announced Monday, that craft chain Hobby Lobby and other “closely held” for-profit companies do not have to provide contraceptives to their employees if doing so violates their religious beliefs. “I disagree with the reasoning as well as the conclusion," Clinton said during a Facebook Live interview at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado. "I find it deeply disturbing we are going in that direction."

The former secretary of state predicted that as a result of the decision, "many more companies will claim religious beliefs. Some may be sincere, some may not." “This is a really bad, slippery slope," she said.

Clinton said she made women and girls a priority during her tenure as secretary of state because she saw the rights of women around the world routinely violated. "Among those rights is control of their bodies," she said. “It is a disturbing trend that you see in a lot of societies that are unstable, anti-democratic and, frankly, prone to extremism, where women’s bodies are used as the defining and unifying issue to bring together people — men — to get them to behave in ways that are disadvantageous to women but prop up rulers.".....snip~

Hillary Clinton blasts Hobby Lobby decision: 'I find it deeply disturbing'

I would have thought that the "slippery slope" was in reducing the freedom of religious practice by government. That is a problem. If someone doesn't want to provide some sort of practice, because the one that is supposed to provide thinks he or she would be acting against his or her religion, that seems perfectly in holding with my understanding of the constitution; at least as it has been interpreted. If we want to prevent people practicing their religious rights and reduce the level of protection afforded minorities like the Europeans have just done, then we will be on the "slippery slope".

Mornin Jog :2wave: When it comes to Hillary and once she starts talking. Get ready for the down-hill slide, brutha!

Certainly no more so than how disturbed I have been at the direction Hillary has been trying to take this country for the past quarter century. This nation is far better off living under a Roberts court than under a Hillary presidency.

Good bye Pete. Have fun.
Okay, so for some reason you are pissed at me. But it was you in your first post to me in thread said: "And, you do understand that this was limited to only four specific types of "birth control" that result in an abortion? Also, you do understand that this was not about "birth control" ..." Well that is true, if you only consider the decision dealing with Hobby Lobby - the narrow decision, but on Tuesday (yesterday) SCOTUS clarified its decision saying the decision deals with all forms of birth control. So a private corporation that was owned by a Catholic could in fact not cover any form of birth control. So you see, the decision did involve religion even though you said it did not.

I respect your opinion, I really do, But on this issue you flubbed it really bad. You didn't realized the decision was made in a much broader sense in that it deals with all forms of birth control. There was nothing Hillary said that was wrong, she knew what she was talking about.

I didn't know about the clarification that was issued by the court the following day, until you showed it to me. And, I doubt you did either until you found it or were told about it.

I thanked you for posting that, amended my statements, and then you went on trying to make me look like an idiot... so I removed myself from the conversation.

And Pete, I respect your opinion also, or I wouldn't engage with you at all.

Sorry, that sometimes happens when people are not speaking to each other.

So, what Hillary said wasn't off-base after all.

You really need to read the actual ruling. It's obvious that you either haven't read it, or you just choose to ignore it.

Read it. Its very obvious that I have read it. They made essentially the same argument that they did in Citizens united. Which is a faulty argument. Hobby Lobby is not an individual and certainly NOT a religious entity.. and providing insurance coverage that covers contraception in no way violates their freedom of religion.

We all have opinions. It's fine to have yours. But do understand that the SCOTUS disagrees with you. They think requiring a closely held private company to provide certain kinds of birth control that the owners of the company believe are tantamount to abortion indeed violates their freedom of religion. Also note that there is nothing in the law that prevents employees of the company from using those birth control methods. It is simply that the company is not forced to pay for it. The employee would either pay for it herself or choose some other insurance policy.

4 justices did NOT agree.. and had dissenting opinions.. so hardly a unanimous decision. And they made the wrong decision and there is really no justification for it. I have read the decision and the justices that found for hobby lobby obviously were pre disposed to agree with hobby lobby. Logically there is no rationale that having a benefit that covers contraception is an ethical/religious problem. Certainly there is not enough rationale to justify giving a religious exemption over other businesses that are not so exempted. This decision gives Hobby lobby a competitive advantage over its other competitors based on its claimed religion.. and that's unconstitutional.

Yes...the poor woman was down to her last 60 million.

No such thing as a unanimous position on anything in national politics. The SCOTUS disagrees with you. It's OK. No need to get bent out of shape over it. I disagree with them on all kinds of subjects.

Then what was your point?

Hillary Clinton blasts Hobby Lobby decision: 'I find it deeply disturbing'
`
I'm not voting for Clinton (and am certainly not not going to vote for any Republican) and this idiot grade response; 'I find it deeply disturbing' , is pure political jargon and means nothing.

In 2012, I voted for the Green Party, Jill Stein. This cycle, I'd like Bernie Sanders to run.

I don't think Sanders will be making the dash this time out.
