Warning Warning the GOP has a Serious Problem Coming with Election Time: Immigration.

Re: Warning Warning the GOP has a Serious Problem Coming with Election Time: Immigrat

But the libs have made it clear, it's not politically correct and is racist to enforce our laws.
and the Republicans have made it quite clear that they're only going to give lip service to controlling the borders.

and neither party has a clue what to do about the tragic situation of thousands of unattended minors coming across the borders, other than to point out that it must be the other party's fault.

Re: Warning Warning the GOP has a Serious Problem Coming with Election Time: Immigrat

"Warning warning GOP?!?" Is that really what's important here?

The Problem is Minor Children being dropped off at our Southern Border. This Year alone.....over 90k will be here. We will have to deal with this Problem. Already BO and started and jumped the gun. Some think this will lead to a road towards Amnesty......others are thinking, currently and with the way things have been with this President. He is manufacturing a crisis to be played upon.
Yes, obviously Obama sent his Top Sekrit Agents to El Salvador and asked people to send their children alone across the US border.

Thanks for helping to politicize an already difficult situation.

The US cannot single-handedly turn around the economies of all of Latin America. It can't stop someone in Honduras from handing their child over to a coyote. There is no way to make the US border so air-tight that no one will try to go through it. There are no immigration policies that encourage this behavior. I can't imagine how establishing stricter border policies will discourage anyone from doing this.

Its a damn if you do or don't situation.....As can we turn around and send Children back to whatever Country without Adults? BO will use this.....against the GOP.
I don't suppose it even remotely occurs to you that any President would actually want to help the kids, rather than use the situation for political advantage? Or that both sides should get their act together, to figure out how to address the situation, and leave the petty partisan sniping behind? No, I guess it doesn't.

What can we do? What say ye?
Gosh, I dunno. Get both parties to come together and create a humane immigration policy? Is that really too much to ask?

These scenes are not only enraging local groups but also causing alarm among Border Patrol officials, who worry that American policy toward these migrants is a direct cause of their increased numbers. White House officials have said that criminal violence and ailing economies in Central America, not American border security, are the primary factors driving the wave.

The unanticipated surge in migrants in recent weeks has created a political, practical and humanitarian crisis for the Obama administration. Conservative critics argue that the administration’s enforcement of immigration law has sent encouraging signals to Central Americans, suggesting that they may enjoy a de facto amnesty if they get across the Mexico border.....snip~

Post 10 and this......does this answer your questions and point out why what was said.....was?

Re: Warning Warning the GOP has a Serious Problem Coming with Election Time: Immigrat

Well what do we do for the 200k by the end of 2015? From there it is expected to double.

Like you said.....we cant give them all Amnesty. Can't send them back to their own Countries who wont take them. Its a Catch 22.

There's two ways to do this as I see it. Ones palatable the others not. The first is we have the Mexicans vote and see if they want to be part of the United States. Make a formal invitation to join up. We do that for all the Central American countries and absorb those that wish to be part of our country. We go all out to get them to join us. There will be lots of growing pains because of this but end the end it nips our immigration problem in the bud by simply incorporating those coming anyhow. It also means that Americans who are opportunists will be able to have the opportunity to make some serious money with infrastructure upgrades and everything else and hopefully we uplift the poor in those counties.

The other is we lock down our border by any and all means necessary including and predominately lethal means and we spread the word far and wide complete with very ugly pictures videos. Get the world to fear coming here unlawfully. Very much the reverse of the Berlin Wall instead of keeping people in we are keeping them out, ruthlessly. That also means suspending trade with Mexico until the border is locked tight. No one crosses our southern border period. And we sink any and every water craft that comes into our waters without permission and inspection. As the people who are here and in the camps we ship em back to the country of origin, by force if necessary. They take back their people alive or dead we don't care. I doubt we as a country would be able to do this. Its really the only way to cut down on border jumping if we are serious about it. I don't think we as people have the stomach to do this.

I myself prefer the first way. That way we get people to stay in their country soon to be state and we come down there for the opportunity that will be present. It also strengthens us and if we are successful we kick the Russians and the Chinese to the curb and get both Canal projects to boot. Both sides benefit from the deal. We use the concept of Judo and use the fact that the Central Americans and Mexicans are dirt poor and want to come, here to get them to invite us down there. They are already Americans lets just make em United States Citizens and add a whole constellation of stars to our flag.

Well, Germany was able to absorb half of their country that had been left in poverty and backwardness under Communism, but they did share a common language and culture. I wonder if we could pull off such a feat?

I don't think we have a choice really unless we want to get really mean. I don't see us getting mean for a number of reasons. We cannot control the border unless we do. This other way we reduce the size of our land border in the south tremendously. If we go after getting the Central American countries and Mexico to join us then we also get the opportunity to expand our markets internally for a good long while. Not to mention migration would be a two street with people looking to go south for opportunity to make money. I think we need to seriously think about aggressively courting these people into joining us on our terms, instead of them flooding our borders. At the very least they can be territories of the United States, which would benefit them and us greatly. I would say we should seriously think about this as part of a two part plan to make the American hemisphere a US hemisphere, so that way everything on our side of the planet is either a very close ally or is a state of the US. That would put the United States in a position to be a genuine uncontested superpower in any way you measure it.

So, what do you say to the people south of the border who think we're imperialists?

Re: Warning Warning the GOP has a Serious Problem Coming with Election Time: Immigrat

Pretty much. By declaring a de facto amnesty people are flooding the border to drop their kids.

What's amnesty (de facto or de jure) got to do with abandoned kids?

Re: Warning Warning the GOP has a Serious Problem Coming with Election Time: Immigrat

Well, that's what some Conservative Critics and Border Security is thinking. Border Patrol says Policy.....that would be BO, correct?

What do you mean, it's border security policy that's causing these kids to be abandoned?

We only have two choices really, convince them to join us or lock em out. The lock em out option requires a ruthlessness that few Americans have the stomach for. So we have to convince them they are better off joining our team, which to be honest shouldn't be that hard considering they seem to coming here anyhow. So instead of them over running our existing territory we get them to vote to be part of us opening up opportunities for themselves. The other way is to make ourselves very inhospitable, I don't think we can do that. I would point out we are not doing this because we like them but out of necessity, be brutally honest with them. They can take it.

Re: Warning Warning the GOP has a Serious Problem Coming with Election Time: Immigrat

When "the war" starts, I think Dems will find out they don't have the American people behind them.

I still believe that we don't know "the rest of the story." There is some bigger plan in place that we aren't aware of. This limitless immigration from all of Central America has to be for a reason. Just has to be. We just don't know what it is.

This might be tin foil hat worthy but I believe we have four reasons our government largely turns a blind eye to the immigration problem.

1. Our economy is largely dependent on continuous growth. With the slowing of population growth in Americas upper and middle class families in recent generations what better solution then to let an influx of immigrants to bolster consumer demand. As we know lower income/no skill labor families typically spend most disposable income.

2. Lowering labor costs for big business. Labor like any other commodity labor is priced by demand. Anytime you add a lot more demand for jobs then jobs available then you can fill those positions for a lower price. I believe illegal immigration is part of the reason wages are lagging behind inflation. My parents business were priced out by a competitor that started using all illegal immigrants and paying them with a 1099. When reported to the government the government was so slow and half assed to react that replacement employees were never an issue (can explain better if needed).

3. Future generations expanding the voter base. I believe this is one reason so many democrats turn a blind eye or deflect their motives for allowing so many immigrants to cross and why they are always seeking immigration reform that is not much short of full amnesty. As we know Latinos are a very strong backer to the Democratic party.

4. Cost to do things correctly. It would cost a fortune to actually stop illegal crossing and deporting all that manage to get threw. I feel politicians simply chose to ignore the problem because they quite frankly would rather have that money to use on projects they wish to see funded rather that spend it deporting millions of illegal immigrants.

I doubt thats what the Border Security said.....just because they blame Administration Policy. Doesn't mean they don't see the obvious clues for themselves while picking up all these kids.

Do you think it could be due to all the transporting might come into that play along with other Policy Issues that were being implemented by this Administration that caused them to say so?

Or, perhaps, help them to develop their own economies so that they don't have people who see emigration to the US as the only alternative.

Supporting and promoting birth control as an alternative to having children you can't take care of might just help them escape from the poverty they're in. That idea wouldn't be too popular in Catholic countries, but is essential to solving the problem of having children they can't feed.

Sending your children off to a strange land must take a particular depth of desperation.
