Moderate Mitt is back.

The former Republican presidential nominee told MSNBC's Morning Joe: "I, for instance, as you know, part company with many of the conservatives in my party on the issue of the minimum wage. I think we ought to raise it." He added: "[F]rankly, our party is all about more jobs and better pay."

The conservative argument against the minimum wage is that it's a job killer. If businesses can't pay people less than the minimum wage, they just won't bother to hire them at all, or they'll replace them with machinery, or workers overseas. The evidence, however, suggests otherwise — but liberals who argue that minimum wage hikes create jobs by boosting consumer incomes are wrong, too. The most recent research concludes minimum wage hikes neither create nor destroy jobs.....snip~

Mitt Romney: Raise the minimum wage - The Week

I hope Romney isn't thinking about trying to make the dash again......and here what is he trying to do? What say ye?

Nice of him to share his thoughts. I completely disagree with him, however.

Do I think he's running again? Not in a million years, IMO.

By all means, explain why.

I can't wait to hear your bookend to "Janitors are not business support".

The Republicans have spent the last 15 years trying to be more "middle of the road" than anyone else and the result is that they've become road kill.

I give them an A+ for tenacity and an F- for paying any damned attention to the lessons they've received.

---------------------------^ This. It's infuriating, isn't it?

Let's see, a Republican't temporarily breaking away from the extremist right wing ideologues... boost minimum wage so many workers are over the poverty line.

yeah that's just terrible...

Course the GOP is bipolar on this... social CONs rail against welfare while many businesses see Food stamps, child care, free school lunches, and housing assistance as 'free money' so the worker stays on the job and the rest of us subsidize the wage... :doh

Who cares about that loser.

He will probably change his mind again. I actually do support a minimum wage increase, but I for one second do not believe Romney actually supports a minimum wage increase.

Minimum wage hike veto rejected - The Boston Globe
The Legislature unanimously overrode Governor Mitt Romney's veto of a minimum wage increase last night, rejecting the governor's view that the boost would hurt businesses and the poor.

You may want to do a little research on the man. He was never part of the "extremist right wing ideologues" in the first place, so there is no temporary break here.

The Republicans have spent the last 15 years trying to be more "middle of the road" than anyone else and the result is that they've become road kill.

On what planet? Eisenhouser was the last middle of the road Repubublican. I disagreed with conservative Republicans like Kemp and Dole on many issues, but at least they were sane, rational people that you could debate. There are no moderate Repubicans left, and very few rational conservative Republicans.

Romney adopted the rhetoric of extremist right wing ideologues when he was fighting for the nomination, to his everlasting shame.

After all those years that minimum wage was raised from 25 cents to $7.25 an hour and it didn't hurt the economy one bit. How do you explain that?

Perhaps, just perhaps, he may be right about this. Both the left and right are wrong, this wouldn't surprise me a bit. Both side exaggerate so much to make their points they tend to be bordering on down right lies. Perhaps if Mitt had talked like this back 2014, I just might have, maybe considered voting for him. But better late than never.
