“It’s time for a little rebellion on the battlefield of ideas,” Texas governor Rick Perry told a wildly enthusiastic crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

The phrase is reference to Thomas Jefferson and his call to arms and it's inclusion in a speech that also contained "we just need to change the presidency", is a clear signal he will again seek the nomination.

Texas governor Rick Perry broke through as a serious presidential hopeful Friday with a spirited speech to a cheering crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Perry brought the audience to its feet with a call to bring the successful conservative policies of red state governors to the national level.

Perry took jabs at targets including New York, California, and the Department of Education, noting that common-sense governance has been absent not only from blue states but from Washington, D.C.

“It’s time for a little rebellion on the battlefield of ideas,” the Texas governor said, paraphrasing Thomas Jefferson.

“We don’t have to accept recent history — we just need to change the presidency,” Perry continued. “We must elect the right kind of leaders to represent us to Washington.”

Perry: 'Time for a Little Rebellion' | National Review Online

The question is, can Perry beat Hillary AND be perceived to be able to do so, something neither McCain nor Romney ever accomplished.

It would certainly be a a clear contest, as Perry is on record as calling Obamacare "socialism on American soil".

Can he win the nomination, please both RINOS and the Tea Party and then go on to beat Hillary or whoever the Democrats run?

do we have to put up with a performance similar to Perrys last attempt?

I doubt he can win the nomination. People are a bit tired of Texans in the whitehouse, and Perry's brand of charisma doesn't appeal to a broad range of personality types. He's a bit too "cowboy", and doesn't have the intellectual capacity to make up for it imo. Not calling him stupid- I just don't think he has what it takes in our current political climate. Many people want someone who has the imaginary ability to save them these days. They want Jesus in the white house.

If the GOP allows this man to play again....they are giving the election to the Dems, no matter who they run.

The most sad thing of all is that Democrats want to elect Hillary Clinton. :doh

Run him, he is your best chance.

The only way that Rick Perry will ever see the inside of the White House is as a guest.

Don't take my word for this, wait and see.

I would vote for him before Christy, but in no way can he beat Billary.

Rick Perry. The P.O.T.U.S.

Good to go into the weekend with a good laugh.

I would vote for him in a heart beat...hes actually accomplished something.

Grown his States economy and a Surplus when States all over the Nation are stuggling and sinking in debt.

Its not a bunch of hope and change nonsense.

Perry actually has something tangible to offer up

Thank you fore that irrelevant contribution.

The OP asks a straightforward question. A cheap shot of one clip where he makes an error is lame and does not belong here. It is a deliberate attempt to divert the topic.

If you care to discuss campaign gaffs of presidential candidates, you have the right to create one, where then we can all participate and post Obama's great ones; "57 or or 58 states" "here in Hawaii which is in Asia" and others.

Please refrain from childish attempts to smear in a legitimate discussion of the man's political chances.

Please to take offense at this post

I would like to hear more about "too cowboy" and whether Perry can divorce himself from the Bush/Texan image through his record, which is claimed to be be so great.

And, is the so called "blue state economy" an attraction for Americans weary of long term hardship?

what i meant by posting that clip is that people will already have a negative perception of rick perry as a candidate. It should be remembered though that Perry was not at his best during the 2011 campaign because of reported medical problems.

that being said, Perry will have to work really hard to erase that perception. i don't think he can do that in 2016.

do you believe he can get the nomination and why?

Will be out of pocket for a little while, but will get back to the discussion in a bit.

Yea, Obama couldn't spell " respect " and thought there were 57 States. Biden is known for spouting nonsense.

And its irrelevent.

The left is one huge batch of hypocrites.

do you believe he can get the
nomination and why?

Unfortunately No, I dont believe he can get the nomination.

The Left demonized Bush character to the point where even people that dislike Obama are turned off by the mere mention of another President from the Lone Star State.

Perry has a actual record of economic and Fiscal success to stand on but I think the media will instantly try to draw parallels based on old false narratives and that will turn people off

Right! They replaced her with a black guy last time she ran. ;) Wonder why?

Yeah, funny all of a sudden she's qualified.

becuase she voted for the iraq war

Thats hillarious.

All the money and false outrage the Democrats put into building their Iraq War narrative and it bites Hillary in the ass

Perry has too many skeletons in the closet to run for President. First being that he is a secessionist pretty much invalidates his ability to hold a office that he denounces.
