White House Denies Obama-Biden Lunch opened due to Gates Book.....

I don't know how opening up lunch for the press in any way refutes anything in the Gates book. How does opening lunch make Biden seem not wrong on foreign policy? Or national security? I don't get how this is a response to that.

Does it matter. Well...no. and yes. Perspective I guess. I see this as just another statement to the mans character or lack thereof. Its kinda like every scandal and problem that has hit him for the last 5 years. What a dilemma...own it or deny it. If he owns it he looks bad. If he denies it, he looks incompetent. He always opts for incompetent. So...in this case either A-we arent doing it to disprove the Gates comments, we are doing it because we said we would 5 years ago and are just getting around to it or B-yes...we are doing it because of the Gates book.

Wait...can we just deny knowing anything about it? Is it too late for that?

Here's two scenarios for you:
A) The press complains that the WH is not letting them get enough personal pictures of the Pres in action and that they are relying on their professional photographer instead, so the WH opens up more for the press

OR

B)Gates releases a book claiming Biden is wrong about most/all of foreign policy and national security, so the WH response is to allow press photographers to take pictures of the Pres and VPs lunch to show everyone how not wrong Biden is.

And you really are telling me you believe B more than A? Because a right-wing news source didn't report it?

What don't you get about the MS Media saying it was rare and that he had not done so ever? What did you think the MS Media just made the **** up? Why did the MS media report it and not some Right wing news source?

Wouldnt that be a question best asked of the White House official that made the statement? And lets be honest...if its NOT in response to the Gates book, they have have comically bad timing.

The problem with what you are saying CM......is that Obama lives for the camera. Obama calls for the photo op. Naturally when all are complaining about his transparency after 5 years he would use the excuse he is trying to be transparent.

This wasn't the Media going to him and asking. This was all on him.

Also note again.....not once in all the media time with Bush. Did they ever get into the Private lunches with him and his VP.

You sure about that?

Correspondence letter to White House

Yeah I am sure.....from your own source.

To be clear, we are talking about Presidential activities of a fundamentally public nature. To be equally clear, we are not talking about open access to the residence or to areas restricted, for example, for national security purposes.

The apparent reason for closing certain events to photographers is that these events have been deemed “private.” That rationale, however, is undermined when the White House contemporaneously releases its own photograph of a so-called private event through social media. The restrictions imposed by the White House on photographers covering these events, followed by the routine release by the White House of photographs made by government employees of these same events, is an arbitrary restraint and unwarranted interference on legitimate newsgathering activities. You are, in effect, replacing independent photojournalism with visual press releases.

All of the following events, with the exception of the McCain-Graham meeting, were reported as “read-outs” by the White House with “official” White House photo(s) attached. They illustrate the troubling breadth of the restrictions placed upon newsgathering by the White House to record governmental activity of undisputed and wide public interest:

The letter was infact informing him of the Protocols with the Media.....which he seems to think he can avoid and get around, when he so chooses to. He was told such won't be the case. Which he knows this.....think about if all the Media was after him. All of them. One can see where ANY would then have real certain problems with anytime they open their mouth.

Campaign time is over with.....and so is the New Sensation.

Look, any Google search will show my source to be legit. It's pretty simple. The media wanted more access and the WH said okay.

Yeah, over a month earlier and again they explain about that which was exclusively private and dealing with NS. Which happens to take place with a Pres and VP with their daily lunch.

So lets not confuse what the Press actually meant.

This is what happens when someone has their blinders on. First it was all, "Oh, this is coming from the WH, not the press", but when I debunk that, it's on to the next deflection. Do you honestly think the WH gives a damn about Gates book?

No, the only one that has blinders are those that go with Obama rushing to defend something he had no reason to defend. The writer wrote the Piece after the luncheon.

Yeah I do.....why the hell do you think Obama gave a Photo Op and a Speech about Gates Book the day after this?

Perhaps you should listen to all the Pundits weighing in and saying the same thing. Might just be a clue on the issue.

Do you honestly think the WH gives a damn about Gates book?

Of course they do, because it reflects badly on them. Do you not think a President and Vice-President wouldn't do something about it to try and change their image? This is politics and appearance is everything. Just take a look at how one comment can pretty much take down a candidate. The President and Vice-President represent the Dems and any Dem up for re-election or election is going to have that "tag" associated with them. You may not agree that this should be the way things are (I sure don't agree with it) but that is the way it is.

It's a conspiracy...

Everything is a conspiracy...

I recognize the fact that Gates book doesn't look good for the administration, but I think if they wanted to refute the accusations in the book, it wouldn't be by letting the press take pictures of a lunch meeting between the Pres and VP.
