(CNSNews.com) -- After the Obama administration locked approximately 50 Catholic priests out of saying Mass at U.S. military facilities around the world for the second Sunday in a row, Father Ray Leonard, who serves as the Catholic chaplain at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia, has filed suit against the Department of Defense, Defense Secretary Charles Hagel, the Department of the Navy, and Navy Secretary Ray Mabus.

DOD locked out Father Leonard and the other priests even though two weeks ago Congress passed, and President Barack Obama signed, a law that instructed DOD to maintain on the job and keep paying contract employees who were supporting the troops.

DOD took this action because Hagel determined that the Catholic priests did not, among other things, “contribute to the morale” and “well-being” of service personnel.

I guess that the aphorism of, "There are no atheists in fox holes" has been lost on Chuckie.

Obama's is redefining the purpose and character of the U.S. military. He and his socialist minion spit upon the U.S. military and it's customs, traditions, heritage and even it's long time regulations.

It started before Obama lied himself into the White, Obama is just speeding up the process.

From the Navy's "Rock and Shoals." It was the Navy's regulations before the UCMJ.

Article 2
The commanders of vessels and naval stations to which chaplains are attached shall cause divine service to be performed on Sunday whenever the weather and other circumstances allow it to be done; and it is earnestly recommended to all officers, seamen, and others in the naval service diligently to attend at every performance of the worship of Almighty God.

I'd like to find out more information, such as are Catholics the only religion being targeted?

And would the people who want to allow priests also allow rabbis, high priestesses, and shaikhs among other religious leaders?

As long as no specific religion is being targeted, if they are all being barred or if they are all allowed, I don't have a problem. But if it is only the Catholic priests, then there is a problem.

It appears that All clergy are being ordered by presidential order to cease and desist. That is except Muslim clergy.

Obama's War on Religion in the Ranks

by Rep. Tim Huelskamp
1 Aug 2013

If Army chaplain Emil Kapaun served in Afghanistan today rather than Korea six decades ago, President Obama would probably give the Catholic priest discharge papers instead of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

In Obama's Army, the Pentagon brass is ordained in the priesthood of political correctness, while devout Christians such as Medal of Honor recipient Emil Kapaun are shunned and ostracized. At all times between the presidential terms of George Washington and George W. Bush, the open practice of Christianity in the ranks was widespread and the open practice of homosexuality was deemed incompatible with military service. In the Obama era, the reverse is true.

This persecution didn't start recently. It began in 2009 and has become intensified as each year has gone by. As an example this passed year, A war games scenario at Ft. Leavenworth identified evangelical Christian groups as a national security threat.

well chaplains arent banned,just contractor.

i dont see it going over well with the military leadership.as the military is very pro worship and does everything within its power to promote all religions within its ranks to practice their religion,so long as it does not interfere with military mission(aka i cant kill, its against my religion)in which they are chaptered out,or harms anyone directly or indirectly.

US Army defines Christian ministry as 'domestic hate group'

By Todd Starnes/
October 14, 2013

Several dozen U.S. Army active duty and reserve troops were told last week that the American Family Association, a well-respected Christian ministry, should be classified as a domestic hate group because the group advocates for traditional family values.

The briefing was held at Camp Shelby in Mississippi and listed the AFA alongside domestic hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan, Neo-Nazis, the Black Panthers and the Nation of Islam.

Why these blatant attacks on the Military Clergy since Obama became president? Soldiers in combat from time immemorial have always fallen back on religion in their darkest hours.
