What says you? He's alright in my book. In light of the governor from New Mexico, he's a midget in comparison :) . The other thing is that I don't see him making big changes or pushing things (big-time) into the direction where I personally stand. He is, on the other hand, one of the few Republicans that didn't follow the absurd Tea Party movement or Obama-is-a-Muslim-terrorist-with-no-birth-certificate movement or Obama = Socialism/Mao/Hitler movement. He also struck out a moderate route when so many others in the Republican party were just bat**** crazy.

Romney would actually be a good choice and one that I would consider, as long as he didn't continue to move to the right to placate the Republican base.
In Massachusetts, he was a fiscal conservative social moderate and was able to govern by bridging those differences. In the 2008 campaign he started becoming more socially conservative to appeal to the radical right-wing of the party.

Connecticut's governor was similar. She oversaw the making of legal unions, didn't really touch peoples guns and was a fiscal conservative. Rhode Island's governor slashed wasteful spending and put some of the budget issues in front of the people (people like that sometimes.)

I think that there is room in America for a fiscal conservative/social moderate President. However....its looking less likely that that person will come from the Republican party.

I would have preferred him over McCain, that's for sure. I disagree with him on some issues like his opposition to Medical Marijuana, opposition to gay marriage, and his support for the war, but other than that... He's a decent candidate.

Exactly. The thing about Mitt is that he has proven himself as a smart businessman...and depending on what state the economy is in at the next election, if we are still struggling, I would consider him because of that.
However, he would have to give assurances that he would not promote the social agenda of the right-wing, otherwise he would never get my support.

I don't like Mormons, especally since he was not publicly that religious until he took the limelight.

so what exactly is your beef with mormons?

Same as my beef with other overly religious people; too concerned with the afterlife. Not to mention the proselytism.
so ...what are your religious views, if any?

Does it matter? My view is matters of religion should be kept out of the government sphere, especially on the issue of civil rights. Politicians who advertise their faith in an attempt to garner support annoy me.

yes...curious if you have any religious views/affilliations

***** This bit of revelation BTW didn't come to a Teenage Boy in a Grove of Trees;)

I honestly don't, nor do I believe you know what I think.
i definitely get the impression that you don't think anyone with religious beliefs is worth the effort to spit on....

Romney was forced to discuss religion because it became an attack point by the religious right. He wasn't trying to use it to his advantage, because it isn't one. Lost Florida because of it, particularly in the hispanic community there, which doomed his campaign.
I wrote him anyway when I voted in the general election. Hope he runs again.

Jews? :rofl But seriously, I respect those that queston their faith, not blind followers.
so they have to doubt their faith to have your respect...gotcha

There is a difference between question and doubt. You don't have to doubt your faith to question it; many of my friends are devout christians, but I respect them because they choose to *understand* their faith, its history, the deeper message, rather than take it at face value and follow it blindly. I respect intellect and critical thinking above all.
