Re: Real reason McCain chose Palin

She is a religious fanatic, which is more than enough for me to want her to stay out of the White House, let alone the Governor's Mansion.

That, and having a MILF as Commander in Chief would be distracting as well.

Have you seen clips of Obama's church? Palin's is preaching the gospel, Obama's preaches racism.

Therein lies the crux of your problem with Palin. Only it's your sexist issue not hers.

Re: Real reason McCain chose Palin

Anyone else see similarities between the right's obsession with trashing Obama on personal issues with the left's obsession on trashing Palin with personal issues? Discounting Palin for left wing personality attacks is as foolish as discounting Obama for right wing personality attacks. Such attacks endeared Obama to Democrats and they endear Palin to Republicans. As some point people stop listening to the attacks accurate or not.

I think McCain chose Palin because everyone else said, "no."

Re: Real reason McCain chose Palin

Palin was a good choice, McCain was going down and by picking Palin he managed to rise up. I think that Palin is smarter then Biden however. Palin has not made completely stupid and idiotic mistakes as many times as Biden. Biden made mistakes such as, Lying about article I of the constitution, His Iraq/Afghanistan figure was off by 2000%, He lied about something McCain voted on that turned he didn't vote on, The Katie's Restraunt incident, Arms control treaty lie, West Bank Elections/Washington post, Pakistani weapons, Pakistani weapon statistic lie, Three letter word J-O-B-S, He lied about Obama not wanting to meet with world leaders, Troop funding lie, opposing clean oil lie, Reagan Tax-rate lie, Bailout lie, Tax-increase lie, Iraq lie, Health insurance lie, oil tax lie, Alternative energy vote lie, and offshore oil funding contradiction.

If it was me, I'd rather elect what you guys seem to think as a stupid candidate for VP, rather then a stupid LIAR for VP.

I think all of you are supporting Biden because you like Obama and don't want to see his bad decision go down the hole.

I don't think that's a fair accessment whether you're trying to be funny or actually believe it to be true.

Gov. Palin, IMO, was brought in to counter then Sen. Obama in both character, charisma and her instant "likeability". But her biggest asset to the Republican presidential ticket is her strong Conservative values.

We all know that Sen. McCain is a Moderate-Republican. What the Republican ticket needed at the time was someone who could be just as charming, just as "articulate" and just as snazzy as Obama. And for a while immediately after being introduced, she galvanized the Republican party ticket. Try to recall how the campaign was going for a month or so after McCain announced her as his running mate and all the speeches she gave from the RNC onward. Nearly every word out of her mouth was in complete contrast to Obama. Sure, she had a few choice words for Joe Biden, but her primary mission was to draw attension to herself and the Republican ticket and away from Sen. Obama. And for a while, it worked! And then all hell broke lose.

The economy began to tank, McCain followers began to go too far down the "dark side" of slander, and McCain, being the true veteran and American he is, just could not and would not allow his supporters to go down the "terrorist" name-calling road. That was just too inapprorpriate even for him. And I must say, I admired him for taking the mic out of that woman's hands and denouncing her comments. He knew a line had been crossed and he just couldn't allow that even if by not playing dirty pool at such a level he was sure he'd lose the election. (I'm sure that's how he felt anyway....) Regardless, at the moment, Sen. McCain gained my respect...not enough to vote for him, but he still got props from me because he stood up for character for once.

But back to Gov. Palin...make no mistake about it - she was brought onto the Republican ticket to be the hound dog, and she did her job well. And speaking of her job, her resigning as governor of Alaska...WOW......I really didn't see that coming! Clearly, she's positioning herself for 2012. I think it's a mistake that she'd leave her election office so soon, but to each her own...

I think she has doomed her chances at running in 2012. Quitting her current position is not likely to endear her with the voters. Has she never heard of "stay the course".

The only reason Biden got taken as VP was because he is old. They took Biden because he has been around for a while, even if he did not do anything. Also Biden had a false title of being the foreign policy god, so they believed that would make up for Barry's inexperience.

Biden was completely for show, he brought nothing to the table except some white hair and wrinkles. Biden has contributed nothing since getting into office.

McCain chose Palin because he represented the white haired, wrinkled experience and he therefore need the youth. In addition McCain's wife was not made a celebrity by the media as Michelle Obama was so he also needed a figure to draw the women's votes. Palin was supposed to get both the female vote and the youthful vote.
