I think you are personalizing more global issues. Balance your checkbook, don't lend money to friends, be careful who you work for, and have a mechanic check out your car purchases before you buy.

Ron Paul isn't going to do all those things for you even if he were made king.

From a banking and investment perspective, it is much worse.

To put this in perspective: During the Great Depression, the job loss from peak employment was 25%. Right now we're at 2.5%.

Makes the next month a little harder to stay in the positives by the end if you get what you need again.
