The problem is people who don't know dick about law declaring that they and they alone know what's right for the country despite the fact that pretty much every educated person thinks that they're ****ing nuts.

Show me some respected legal scholars who think we should repeal the 14th Amendment.

Dr. Paul is not opposed to free trade. He is opposed to the 20,000 page managed trade agreement that is NAFTA. Same with CAFTA and other government-managed trade policies.
Good for him!

Um, simple solution: cut spending. Unfortunately your politicians lack the will to do it.
And while I'm a fan of cutting spending as well, trying to cut $1T+ each year just ain't gonna happen.

LO****INGL.

Do you realize that you're railing against the idea of federal law? That was the purpose of the Constitution.

You people can't just take terms like "states rights" and redefine them to mean whatever you want them to mean.

exactly how is the government regulating a woman's body "libertarian"?

Cultural Conservatives Lose if Gay Marriage is Federalized

Ron Paul makes his views on gay marriage quite clear:

"If I were in Congress in 1996, I would have voted for the Defense of Marriage Act, which used Congress’s constitutional authority to define what official state documents other states have to recognize under the Full Faith and Credit Clause, to ensure that no state would be forced to recognize a “same sex” marriage license issued in another state. This Congress, I was an original cosponsor of the Marriage Protection Act, HR 3313, that removes challenges to the Defense of Marriage Act from federal courts’ jurisdiction. If I were a member of the Texas legislature, I would do all I could to oppose any attempt by rogue judges to impose a new definition of marriage on the people of my state."

So fantastic, local governments can be invasive into your personal life based on irrational relgious beliefs, but not the federal government.

I wonder how Ron Paul would view a state government trying to ban guns?

To a specific point. Whatever not outlined within the constitution should be, in my opinion, left to the states to decide. Slavery is a non issue, because its very existence underscores the constitution. I am not arguing against federalism. When a constitutional amendment becomes enacted, it should trump state and local law.

For example. While i do believe cannabis should be legal, i also believe it should be left up to the states to decide until a constitutional amendment is enacted.

IMHO, it would be a tragic mistake to just legalize cannabis federally, while not taking the states sentiment into consideration.

I think the difference between most of our positions is that I view our government as a confederation with a stronger than normal federal government and I'm assuming that you like the view of government as Federalist or tilted heavier in federal power.

Welcome to the anti-Fed movement. This time around I think the Feds are going to have trouble shoring up people on their sides when people chose all their own states and America instead of the Federal Amerika. Our best method of travel isn't train anymore and our best method of communication isn't horseback.

Which is appropriate because they're often the same people.
