Schizophrenia Reigns in Minnesota

First, let me direct your attention to THIS poll. Democrat Al Franken leads Republican Norm Coleman by 9 points.

Wait, just a minute. Take a look at THIS poll. Coleman leads Franken by 10 points.

Oops, here's yet another poll. Franken leads Coleman by 2 points.

WTF?? They can't ALL be right.

WTF indeed, but here's the moral of the story. Every time a Republican posts a poll showing their candidate ahead, the Democrats say the only poll that counts is on election day. Every time a Democrat posts a poll showing their candidate ahead, the Republicans say the only poll that counts is on election day.

Looks like the Democrats and Republicans in this forum have something in common after all. As for myself, I say "screw it". I am going to wait until election day, although I DO plan to vote early. Meanwhile, I think I will just grab some popcorn and a cold Shiner Bock, and watch the entertainment, as the Democrats and Republicans turn polls into spitballs and shoot them at each other.

Re: Schizophrenia Reigns in Minnesota

I would be surprised if Al Franken actually manages to win. If it were any state other than Minnesota, he wouldn't have a chance. Even in Minnesota, if he wins it will be on Obama's coattails rather than because the voters decided he was the best candidate.

They elected for governor a wrestler (actor?) who pretended to be an athlete, didn't they?

I'm actually surprised that Norm "diamond Joe" Coleman has been doing as well in the polls so far. Then again, I"m surprised that he ever got elected to the Senate after losing his bid for governor. He was mayor of St Paul as a democrat and then switched to republican mid-term. He pulled some interesting shenanigans as a mayor and took credit for things that had happened while he was mayor that were due solely from the previous mayor and city council.

The campaigns between Franken and Coleman started off interesting. Franken played the 'straight guy' and tried to show that he can be a serious politician. Coleman went for the folksy humor route and went on the aggressive and stated that he brought 'hockey back to Minnesota'. (He brought it back when he was a democrat and was ok with spending the constituents money and raising taxes for the Xcel Center).

Coleman has stuck with either folksy ads or attack ads while Franken has switched from the defensive to the attack ads coupled with humor ads. He's also distanced himself from Coleman and Obama and has rallied against the $700 billion bailout bill.

(As for Ventura, he did a lot of good for Minnesota law. He cut spending, got rid of the 'underbrush' laws like sodomy laws and worked for gun ownership rights).
