Current Mood: | John McCain 2,343 Votes. Ron Paul, 15 After getting screwed out of his delegates in Nevada, Ron Paul still managed to get second place in the delegate race with 15. Mitt Romney got 2 delegates. Maybe somebody with a little more knowledge in history can tell me, but has there ever been another time in the past hundred years or so that the second place guy wasn't allowed to speak at the convention? |

If I understand correctly, those two told their delegates to vote for McCain.
Can you tell me the last time someone with 15 votes got to speak?

Yes, Thompson and Guiliani lost (though I believe they both at least initially won a handful of delegates that they released so McCain could get them), but they weren't entitled to any speaking spot.
Now why should a candidate who has not pledged to support the winner get to speak? Why is he entitled to it? |

I never said Paul was entitled though. I thought of it more as a courtesy, and maybe even a way to reach out to the over 1 million people who voted for Paul. |
