Alaska leads nation in per capita federal expenditure receipts

Sarah Palin was right to praise Alaska's representatives for doing a good job in bringing federal dollars to her state. Alaska tops the nation in federal fund expenditures per capita. In 2006 Alaska received $14,383 in federal expenditures for each resident, over three times the national average of $4,529.

Palin has not been governor long enough to determine if her asserted cost cutting disposition included cutting receipt of federal expenditures in her state. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Are we talking about Senator Stevens or Palin?

I can't tell through the pork grease.

Fiscal Conservatives should be appalled at Palin. As they should be appalled with McCain and Obama's plans. This election should be titled "Fiscal Insolvency 2008 - You Decide Who Will Bankrupt America!"

I agree. How many federal dollars do they get per square mile compared to other states like Mass.?

besides, when you are asking for money, shouldn't you be asking for as much as possible, because you will likely end up with less
and conversely, if you are being asked for money shouldn't you be saying NO to as much as possible, until a happy middleground is reached

that is how every business I have ever worked with acts

I want a local rep to secure as much money from an available source as they can
but i want them to spend it frugally
I want a governor to secure as much money from the Federal Govt as they can, but i want them to spend it frugally
I want the Federal govt give away as little money as is necessary

In 2006, Sarah Palin was governor for 27 days. What does anything that happened in 2006 have to do with her?

Please, you're on the opposite side of the Income Statement on this one. How disingenuous can one get? This is revenue for the state, not more expenditure. I wouldn't expect any future change in this figure to mean anything as regards how she would handle the Federal Budget. Where are her state budgets and expenditures compared to earlier years? I welcome your analysis.

Why would expenditures per square mile be relevant?

It's true that because she has only been governor a brief time that the latest data I could find (2006) doesn't reflect what she may have done as governor. Could be that she put her foot down on federal expenditures in Alaska as governor. But I doubt it.
