Current Mood: | Constant references to "speechwriter" and "teleprompter": Bias or Sexist? Watching the news channels last night, there was constant mention of Palin doing well with the teleprompter, and delivering a speech written by the speechwriter very well. CNN, MSNBC and Fox News all gave frequent reminders that she was simply reading a prepared speech (something we know all candidates and politicians do) off the teleprompter. I don't recall any such analysis re: Obama's acceptance speech.
I watched the speech on CNN, and Wolf Blitzer must have mentioned it a dozen times within the first 5 minutes following the speech. Another curious thing with CNNs coverage was the fact that they frequently cut to a shot behind Palin during her speech so the teleprompter and text was visible.
Maybe my pro-Palin bias is clouding my memory, but I don't remember a single shot of the business end of a teleprompter during Obama's coronation speech.

Current Mood: | Re: Constant references to "speechwriter" and "teleprompter": Bias or Sexist? it was rediculous. obama sounds like he has a speech impediment without a teleprompter.
it was because her speech was so damn good they had to find something to tear her down on.

Lean: Conservative | Re: Constant references to "speechwriter" and "teleprompter": Bias or Sexist? Sure, like they all don't use teleprompters and speechwriters. Unfortunately, 80 percent of people are too dumb to know that.
Palin's speech was so much better than Biden's, the media is grasping at straws. |

My assumption was that it was liberal media bias, but people complain about making that kind of assumption. That's why I was curious what other people thought - that perhaps it was more geared to her being a woman than any political agenda. |

I don't see this type of claim being levelled against Palin any more than anyone else.
