The only reason I agree with the rape and incest exceptions is to get legislation passed, but I would take any viable opportunity to pass legislation without those 2 exceptions.
I, too, would oppose even if my own doughter were raped. |

I think most women do abort down syndrome babies which is why they are more rare these days. |

She is rabidly pro-life. If you are pro-life, you think abortion should be illegal in all cases. If you simply think its a choice that should not be imposed upon others, as you are portraying it, then by definition, you are pro-choice.
As to what legislation she has backed,
1. She has only been in office for a year and a half.
2. Its a federal issue right now so such legislation would be pointless.
She has clearly stated her beliefs on the matter though, and obviously once in federal office she would push for a supreme court that shared her views and push the RNC platform that now calls for a ban on all abortions under all circumstances.

Also--the tests that measure this prior to when amniocentesis can be done are not particularly accurate. It's assured that some of the abortions of Down's children are actually abortions of chromosomally perfect human beings.

However, I also think that many parents would be more likely to choose not to abort if sufficient social safetynets were in place to ease the burden of raising such a special needs child. Its can be very, very, expensive to raise a child with downs syndome. |
