Obama defends natural disaster experience

CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive - Obama defends natural disaster experience « - Blogs from CNN.com

Barack Obama defended his experience in dealing with natural disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina, and took a swipe at newly minted GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

In an interview on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 Monday night, Obama was asked about whether his experience in the U.S. Senate dealing with weather-related situations compares to Palin’s executive experience running the state of Alaska and as the small town mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.

now in all honesty, I think he is being a little stupid here. Alaska, ALASKA! for gods sake...

earthquakes, volcanoes, 24 hours of darkness, tsunamis, ICE, storms, etc......

What did he do during katrina?

Please if someone can justify his position here, I am all ears. this is a huge stretch for him imo.

I mean really, sitting with a bunch of senators compares to dealing with weather related problems in ALASKA compares how?

You asked what he did, I answered. I doubt either candidate is going to be out there sandbagging, flying a chopper, or handing out water bottles. So it seems a little odd about how they handled a situation that they have no authority to handle in the first place.

I'm not comparing the two so I could give two hoots. It seems silly to do so in the first place.

For instance, GW Bush was governor of Texas which had natural disasters during his governorship and I don't think that he handled 9/11 as well as he could have. Go figure.

Re: Obama defends natural disaster experience

Because Obama's camp realizes that Palin has around as much real experience for the job as him, so its easier for themselves to compare Obama to the republicans #2 than the Republicans #1.

And yes, Obama has a good deal of PR and legislative experience dealing with what occurs after a natural disasters. Palin has a fair amount of executive experience dealing with the actual preparation, happening, and aftermath of a natural disaster.

I think the issue is not of importance either. I posted it as it seemed odd that Obama seemed to think it was.

And the comparison like you touched on was also a bit odd.

Did you quick reply? I've noticed that when you quick reply, when your post goes up the thanks button is not present on any post made between you hitting quick reply and actually posting
