According to the National Journal (leading source of nonpartisan reporting on the current political environment and emerging policy trends) Obama has the most liberal voting record and Biden has the third most liberal voting record.

Obama's score over his three years in the senate is 88. Biden's lifetime composite score of 77.5

The most conservative are
1) Jim Demint R-SC
2) Wayne Allard R-CO
3) Richard Burr R-NC
4) John Cornyn R-TX

Ya we've already had several threads debunking this. I'm not going to repeat everything from those threads, but suffice it to say that the National Journal's methodology of ranking a vote as "liberal" or "conservative" is very flawed.

Yeah, it was Gore that was most liberal, then it was Kerry. How did Kerry lose the title?

Sanders is a self-described democratic socialist, but because he does not belong to a formal political party he appears as an independent on the ballot. Sanders caucuses with the Democratic Party and is counted as a Democrat for the purposes of committee assignments. ... Sanders is the first self-described socialist to be elected to the U.S. Senate.

Obama is more liberal than a socialist?

Bull****.

Do any of you doubt that the most conservative are just that? I mean, come on, John Cornyn, Jim Demint. I would say those two are very conservative. Cornyn is my senator. I get regular email updates from his office. He is to conservative on some issues for Sgt Rock.

Lets look at Obama's voting record what little of it there is. Hence, the labels greenhorn, noob, wet behind the ears, inexperianced upstart.

The following link is to the Washington Post. it list some of the more important bills, nominations and resolutions that have come before congress and how Obama voted on them.

It looks to me like his voting record is very liberal. Anyway why wouldn't you liberals be proud of Obama being the most liberal member of congress? Kandahar, what about you, your a liberal, are you ashamed that Obama is a liberal?

Not at all, but it's simply not correct that he's the most liberal member of the Senate. In terms of ideology, he's more in the middle of the Democratic Party. Anyone who thinks he's more liberal than Bernie Sanders or Russ Feingold simply hasn't been following politics very closely.

Look at some of the votes that the National Journal uses to determine how "liberal" or "conservative" a senator is, then tell me that their methodology is valid.

For example, one of the votes they use is "Establish a Senate Office of Public Integrity to handle ethics complaints against senators." Is that a liberal or conservative position?
