Former POW with McCain would not vote for him

One thing Pete. Don't listen to him. The American elections do concern you. Personally, I like hearing the broader perspective offered by people on the outside, whether I agree with them or not. Refusal to countenance your opinion is just a further indictment of a certain part of the American electorate.

I think it would help to have a several views from abroad on the issues. It is unfortunate we are left, primarily, with the repeating track from Petey for so long.

He is always going to take a predictable side in any debate about America and leverage that side to try to make America look as bad as possible. It really isn't about not wanting to hear from other nations...it's about not wanting to hear from Pete anymore.

I am sorry for your loss. And I apologize if my statement prompted such a painful musing for you.

However, that does not change my stance. I come from a family that has always had members in service at any given time. Most of the time, we have several members in service. I, myself, joined the Navy but unfortunately that enterprise was cut short by a broken femur. I was medically discharged because of the steel rod used to hold the bone together (which, consequently, gives me absolutely no handicap). Currently, my sister, two cousins and an uncle are all serving in the USAF and the US Army. Of those, two are stationed in Afghanistan, one in Mississippi, and one in Germany.

War is not a pleasant thing. War is a brutal and terrible thing. I am not pleased by war but I understand, on the world stage, it is a powerful tool of dimplomacy and is sometimes the best diplomacy. As citizens of the Republic, it is our duty to back our nation and its governing bodies when it makes war on another nation. It is the duty of the governing bodies to use whatever means are available to advance the will of the people. If the governing body does not respect the will of the people, then there are opportunities every 2 years. At this time, it is the right of the people to elect new officials to enact the will of the people, or give a nod of assent by re-electing the incumbents.

If the war is not the will of the people, the people will do something about it at the ballot box. I happen to agree with the war and am not greatly opposed its use in other matters of diplomacy with nations I believe are truly threatening to the world.

Very well articulated response Joey. And it wasn't so much you as it was my friend, Mr. Goose, who really prompted that post of mine. But it is what it is you know. :)
