Do you think the Majority of Republicans like having John McCain as their candidate, or dislike it?

Plain and simple question.
And of course you don't get a yes or no answer. The answer is somewhere in between. They neither like him nor dislike him, which is not good for his chances, especially compared to the almost fanatical devotion that Obama as created.

Well now, to be fair, my answer was yes. I just added on to the yes, but to the simple yes or no my answer was yes.

No, I respect Galens answer. He was up front, and gave a clear one without a lot of waffling.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but I think there's as much anecdotal to at least say its as possible as the majority being on the opposite side. Either way you slice it, a large swatch of the republican party do not like him as their candidate, be it a majority or large minority.

Yeah, see that's the thing, just saying yes is hard because all we've got is opinion polls and anecdotal evidence. Like in the Republican circles that I run, everyone save for two or three are completely behind McCain, they disagree with certain things but everyone is all about fighting for him. But I'm in Chicago, which went heavily for McCain, so there's question as to how representative the people I know are of the Republican party as a whole. On top of that, everyone I've talked to was talking to me, and throughout the primaries I was badgering everyone who'd even consider voting in the Republican party to vote for McCain. That adds bias to the sample. Which is why anecdotal evidence isn't really worth anything.

If you say the majority don't like McCain, I'm not going to say you're wrong because I don't have a whole lot to base my opinion on. I mean, the polls are more or less on my side, but they're all things like "Do you support John McCain?" or "Do you intend to vote for John McCain?", neither of which equates to "Do you like that John McCain is your candidate?" so that also doesn't mean that much. Your guess is as good as mine.

But as Galen later goes on, that doesn't actually mean they do and given the data as well as the polling questions, it's hard to determine a yes or no answer. It's pretty clear however, that there are large blocks within the GOP that do not like him. But where do we draw the 51%?

Just because you'll vote for someone doesn't mean you like them as a candidate. From what I can gather from Hillary's election for Senate in New York, few people liked her. It was just that the other candidate was worse. Thus represents American democracy.

Agreed. Not good for Senator McCain especially running against a campaign staffed with fanatical followers of Senator Obama.
