Current Mood: | Minnesota Senate: Franken 44% Coleman 42% Rasmussen Reports™: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a presidential election. Quote:
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Minnesota voters shows Democrat Al Franken attracting 44% of the vote and incumbent Republican Norm Coleman earning 42%. A month ago, it was Coleman 48% and Franken 45%.
Franken’s support has stayed between 43% and 45% in four straight polls. The current poll is by far the lowest level of support earned by the incumbent, suggesting that the rumblings of a possible Ventura campaign raised new possibilities for voters to consider. However, on Monday night, Ventura announced that he will not enter the campaign.
| Pretty amazing for Franken.

Current Mood: | Re: Minnesota Senate: Franken 44% Coleman 42% Pretty amazing how quickly he was able to squander that lead, considering in a more recent poll Coleman's up by 13 (and in the last poll before this was leading by 10).
It's almost as if there's a pattern in the numbers about which you're starting threads...I wonder if the CBS outlier where McCain's got a net unfavorable rating of 1 is next!

The Minnesota DFL should've picked a better candidate. Is he really the best they could do?

I know we're all required to prostrate ourselves at the sacred alter of Garrison Keillor, but seriously, I don't give a **** about folky homespun wackiness. People from Minnesota don't have some innate flinty and genuine insight into the inherent ludicrousness of politics. They vote for wrestlers. They're retards.
NPR is going to come and take my tote bag away.

NPR is going to come and take my tote bag away. | Except for Ventura's personality which is what did him in, he was an amazing governor. He was one that got rid a lot of crap laws on the books (like making being a homosexual a crime). He stood up for his beliefs, made them known, and didn't dink around. It was actually quite refreshing to see a politician not trying to please everyone but to try and lead them to his point of view. If he's learned from his past personality mistakes, I'd whole-heartedly support him again.

Minnesota's got a reputation for being a blue state because of two main reasons. The first is that we were the only state that didn't vote for Ronald Reagan the second time. We're also known for our very liberal welfare and tax system.
But, the state is actually really purple in nature. For every Paul Wellstone we also have had a Michelle Bachman (shudder).
As for Coleman and Franken, ugh. Coleman used to be mayor of St Paul. He was definitely a "diamond Joe Quimby" type of politician. I used to work for a real estate company and the owner was a bit of a local Donald Trump figure. The stories about how Coleman used the office to advance his political career despite of what was best for the city were shocking and embarrassing.
Franken on the other hand....I can sum him up in two words: Air America. I've never had patience for radio punditry and Air America proved that it's not from the viewpoint, but the presentation. |
