The New Yorker Cover Dooms Obama's Chances
Certain events take weeks, months or even years for us to fully comprehend.
This is one of those kinds of events.
Unlike some campaign faux pas that quickly blow over or those which immediately salvo the candidate's chances, I have a strong feeling that this New Yorker cover is a most serious wound and the impact of it will not be fully known until November.
Like the passengers and crew aboard the Titanic who were sailing along in the night and who suddenly heard and felt something happen deep within the ship, far down below their level of immediate concern, they continued along as though nothing had happened. But they were already sunk. And only with the passage of time did the hard, cold reality dawn on all of them.
It may be that Barack Obama's chances of winning the presidency are already doomed by this magazine cover.
And no matter what the MSM does now the blow has already been suffered.
The most ironic thing is that for the past 4+ years I have been a member of a growing chorus of posters who have been saying, in regards to the war on terror and so many other things, that liberals, progressives and democrats are shallow, naive, oblivious to the big picture, living in their own fantasy world and more concerned with how things appear than how they actually function.
Well, this New Yorker cover speaks eloquently to that assertion.

The MSM has done to Obama what they have been doing to the Bush Administration and the GWOT and America for years. In the case of Bush & Co., despite his working to protect our safety and freedoms the media has been willing or eager to torpedo his efforts. And now they have done the equivalent to Barack Obama's campaign. They published a cover that shoots their candidate (and let's not be coy about it, Obama is their man) in the foot. If they had a better grasp of what is going on in this country they wouldn't have published it. (Unless there are some closeted Right Wing moles in their editorial department, that is!)
I may have ascribed malice to some MSM acts before now but this New Yorker cover isn't, I suspect, a matter of their targeting him as much as it is an example of their liberal cluelessness. And that is as ironic as it can possibly be.
When Obama was said to have been too inexperienced to assume the presidency this was underscored by his grandiose and naive promise to meet with all of the enemies of the US without pre-conditions. And now his campaign has suffered a grievous blow due to that same brand of liberal naivete.
But it is only right that this should happen.
Barack Obama is ill-suited for the responsibilities of President of the United States. And whatever works to prevent his election is in the best interests of freedom and the United States of America as we fight to resist the aggressions of the irreconcilable wing of Islam here and around the world.
