C'mon guys...This cartoon isn't really that bad. I thought it was done in good taste, and it did a good job at showing how the opposition likes to portray Obama.

Perhaps they should have captioned it with: Hussien Obama. So that there is no confusion about it being satire.

I think the problem isn't with the left knowing this is satire, but that the picture is being used by some supporters of the right. Whether they know it as satire or not (I would imagine many would have understood the original intent), apparently this is being used by opponents of Obama to help spread their anti-Obama message.

And the problem in that is what? Politics is a full-contact sport. Either take the hits or take the bench.

Should we engage in widespread self-censorship for fear that our beliefs and statements will be used for nefarious purposes?

Is it the responsibility of the media to hand-feed us pabulum and explain the nuance and meaning behind every bit of flotsam and jetsam that rises to the surface in a campaign? Rachel Maddow of Air America and MSNBC's "Countdown" thinks so. I, on the other hand, thought that was the responsibility of the paid campaign staff.

What ever became of personal responsibility and being an informed voter? If people choose not to be informed are we to send them to education and enlightenment camps?

This is satire; a great American political tradition. Perhaps everyone should lighten up and laugh once in awhile; it does wonders.

The problem becomes when one tries to pass of satire as non-satire. I don't think there's anything wrong with political commentary or political satire. However, some take the satire and use it in a means as if to depict truth. No one is saying that the Times should be shut down or anything, there is no legal action being taken; so no one is suggesting censorship. I just believe it would behoove people to use their brains every once in awhile.

This whole Obama being a muslim thing is becoming a bit exaggerated who are all this republicans who are pushing this idea of him being a muslim? who are the right wingers in the media pushing this idea?

I love how people believe that censorship is ok when it is their viewpoint being supported, but are offended when it goes after their views.

If I call Pres. Bush a mouth-breathing, slack-jawed, borderline mental retard, then I am not patriotic, but if someone calls Obama a towel-headed, Islamic terrorist, it is satire??

Well the cartoon is satire your 2 statements about bush and Obama are insults but they dont make you not patriotic.
