Is McCain panicking or just forgot his own record on flipflopping? | Meh. That'll teach me to walk into a thread without first checking to see who started it. The most remarkable thing about Petey's commentary is that it robbed me of the 30 seconds of precious life it took me to read and dismiss it as more of his uninformed, blinded rantings. |

I didn't attack him. I asked him two questions and pointed out that since the answer to both is "no", he really has no business starting threads about either candidate. I would have said the same thing had he started a thread about Obama. | Non-sequitur that got thanked by Navy Pride...imagine that.
It really doesn't matter that he isn't American and can't vote in our elections. The fact is that many non-Americans have great interest in the course of our electoral process. We have given them great reason to worry about who we put into office. Just look at the last seven and a half years. Our politics cast long shadows and send major ripples throughout the rest of the world. His opinion is valid and should be welcome in this forum. How many American posters participate in the international forums here at DP? I don't know the count but I would say the majority of posts are made by Americans.
Both candidates flip flop, it's what they do. They are politicians at heart. The "better man" is irrelevant at this point, the numbers don't lie. McCain won't win, the electoral college will follow the popular vote which will go squarely for Obama, and that will be the end of it.

With all due respect, I remember a certain presidential candidate who didn't get the popular vote but got the electoral votes needed to win. Then all kinds of accusations ensued about stolen elections and other stupid ****. |

I firmly believe Obama will carry a healthy popular vote and the EC will follow that trend. |

Does the same work in reverse? If so I'd love to hear the explanation on WTF we are doing in Iraq then. That goes far beyond just commenting on. |

If the stakes are that high, it sort of makes this a world election... at least from one perspective. | As the sole remaining super power I actually think that as American's who have a greater role in the world we should be taking the opinions of what those around the world think. Our actions ultimately do affect global political climate and the roll of our leaders go far beyond our own borders.
IOW a candidate that has the ability to ally more nations in cooperation with us rather than working against us would be both beneficial the nation and to the world as a whole. Win win - so taking into account of what other nations citizens think is not such a bad idea. |

How many times have these same people make comments about other countries and bitch about how they are run or the decisions they make?
All things aside though, +1 to Navy for the pot meet kettle comment.
