We've seen it earlier in this thread...a weary discussion on blaming Fox News for taking a line from Wright out of context...yet the same defenders didn't mention ONE WORD about the context of "The United States of KKKAmerica" and "AIDS was invented to kill blacks" and any other of a multitude of vulgar comments...

Much easier to take one comment and turn it into a "blame someone else" game...

The whole problem with this discussion (in the big picture) comes down to this...

Even if every single person in this country were to NOT take what they say at face value and Obama and his supporters need interpretors to tell everyone what they REALLY meant, this would only prove a single point...

Do we want someone as president who can't provide a clear message without "accidentally" stepping on peoples' toes only to repeatedly recant at a later date?...

I wasn't alive. However, I don't see that as a huge thing for my country, but rather a huge thing for mankind in general. Patriotism has nothing to do with it.

Singing relgious songs doesn't make me proud of my country. If anything, that moment make me LESS proud of my country. The fact that people would "band together" during such a time and sing about some fairy tale figure is quite bothersome to me.

I'm proud of my country in the sense that I like our Constitution. But I am not "really proud" of anything my country has done during my adult life. We keep moving more toward socialist policies, our government has only gotten larger and larger, more invasive and controlling, and our foreign policy sucks big ones.

BTW, I'm not an Obama fan. Never have been. I don't think you could pay me to vote for him.

But I don't see what's negative about recognizing what's WRONG with our country and striving to change it.

Okay, but everytime I, or anybody else here bring up a positive event that we can be proud of others slam it and mention the negative aspects. It's a really depressing way of looking at life.

You seem to misunderstand. Recognizing that there are positive things that have occured in this country is not the same as being "really proud" of this country. I'm not really proud of anything my country has done in my adult life. That doesn't mean I don't see any positives. It just means they aren't positive enough. How can I be really proud of something when there's so much wrong with it and it's only been getting worse instead of better?
