Re: It's The Reaction Stupid!

If Obama's supporters "agree" as your stating they do, then they are more nuts then i originally thought. Keep in mind the majority of Obama's support comes from young voters like age 18-22. This group tends on average to be quite retarded. Now there are exceptions like myself... but specemins like myself are hard to come by. Lol just kidding i'm being a conceited *******. Nonetheless, my age group tends to be blind to what's happening. My age group tends to be quite retarded. If they truly support/believe what Obama's wife/pastor and himself are saying they are quite delusional. I mean the part about Aids created to kill blacks.. my cousin believes that but she is from Tennessee so it's ok..

Oh, I know that. Too bad nobody really backs them up, with the possible exception of the Libertarians. Too bad the media keeps focusing on the two big power-houses and gives very little attention to anyone else.

It is in effect a two-party system when two parties hold all the money and all the power and make it impossible for anyone to effectively go against them, unless they're a billionaire à la Ross Perot.

I can't really ignore (sorry) the context. we protect a country from man we were arming a few years earlier. shame is a better word than pride.

you mean Reagan?! I can't be proud of illegal wars and negotiating with terrorists. the guy supported Saddam AND bin Laden. amazing that you even mention him. perhaps you didn't know.

I told you exactly why I thought you were. I pointed it out. no need to bring up all this other stuff.
In each of these examples I cited what you could be proud of. You chose to pick how Bush used 9/11 as an excuse to go to war. I was referring to how the people of the US banded together for a common cause.

We helped Kuwait from being overtaken period. Spin it how you want.

You discount the great things Reagan did, which is what I referred to, and brought up something totally different.

Again, who is really being dishonest here?

I've given you a few examples of things you could be proud of as an American. I don't give a damn what you are proud of since you will probably support anything that spews from Obama, Wright, or O's wife's mouths (seeing as you seem to defend them in every case).

America does a lot of good. For somebody in their 40's to say they have never really been proud of their country (in their adult life or otherwise) is disturbing, especially when their husband is seeking the Presidency. Now give me a break from your tired arguments and weak spin.

Wrong. You gave examples of what you're proud of as an American. None of which has anything to do with what Michelle Obama said.

Good Flying Spaghetti Monster. I'll ask you this twice because you seem to be fond of strawmen.

Is saying : "I have never eaten an apple" the same as saying "This is the first time that I've eaten an apple in my adult life.

It's funny to watch you be so intellectually dishonest and call what other people are saying - Really it is. It's like a mentally disabled person calling normal people "retards". Honestly it is. You keep saying that Michelle Obama said she's never been proud of her country and this claim has been blown away. Then you say "How can she possibly not be proud of the same things I am!" - Your feigned outrage is a joke.

that isn't all I said. what was the common cause? was it this?

your oversimplification relies upon omission. I'll provide context by relying on an instructive analogy.

you are a rich kid. you're worried about other kids picking on you. so you buy them all a lot of bottle rockets for them to use to help you. but one of these kids goes up and down the street using the bottle rockets you gave him, and is mean. so you take them back from him, and do a lot of damage control in order to get back to square 1.

does that make you a hero? or a sucker?

did I discount anything? or did I merely bring up the negative things?

the one who pretends that using an extra word in a sentence doesn't change the meaning at all.

the one who pretends that a fuller context changes nothing.

the one who doesn't quote word-for-word but instead provides his own wording similar to what he thinks things mean.

the one that needs to bring up off-topic examples in order to make a non-point because he refuses to acknowledge the context of a word used by Michelle Obama, that he himself uses:

We banded together and united (short live as it was).

Maybe so, but we did what was right in the end which should count for something.

The point is that there are things to be proud of. You can bring up negatives all you want, but it does not take away from things you can take pride in.

I'm using the word when it doesn't need to be used to show how unnecessary the word is. The word is there, I've had no problem admitting that, but it does not make any difference in this context.

Re: It's The Reaction Stupid!

To be fair, her "adult life is 26" years.

This spans both republican presidents, and democratic presidents. This has spanned republican legislatures and democratic legislatures.

We have minorites put onto our highest court and get elected or appointed to some of the highest points of the government.

We have given uncounted amounts of aid over those 3 decades of her adult life to people abroad and within this country.

We have stood up to a number of oppressive regimes and worked against a number of genocidal movements.

We have helped as a country in the fight agaisnt aids and poverty the world over.

These are just a few of the more "non-partisan" things off the top of my head, in very broad strokes.

I do not doubt that her comment was mostly one inspired for political reasons to further highlight her own husband. I don't doubt it was a great deal of hyperbole. I also would question how you can believe thought that someone who has lived 26 years of her adult life willingly within the United States honestly could not be proud of her country, be it the government of the country as a whole, in some way shape or form during that 26 years.

ok, good, then you should have no problem in realizing that "really proud" is better than just plain "proud." if someone says they haven't been "really proud," then to say that they've never ever been proud, is an assumption.

you wouldn't want to assume anything, wouldjya?
