A sermon last Friday by a prominent Muslim cleric and Hamas member of the Palestinian parliament openly declared that "the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital," would soon be conquered by Islam.

The fiery sermon, delivered by Yunis al-Astal and aired on Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV, predicted that Rome would become "an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread though Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, even Eastern Europe."

"Allah has chosen you for Himself and for His religion," al-Astal preached, "so that you will serve as the engine pulling this nation to the phase of succession, security and consolidation of power, and even to conquests through da'wa and military conquests of the capitals of the entire world./quote]

Even though we all have known this was the Jihadists' goal for some time, this most well publicized statement of intent is very important.

VERY important.

We finally will have the opportunity to get the Democrats to deal with the issue of Islamist aggression and expansion.

Why is that important?

Because if the two Democratic cjhallengers say they are opposed to the Islamist expansion into Rome, the next question SHOULD be: "If you are opposed to Islamist expansion in Rome why would you allow it to happen in Iraq?" Why is your priority to get out of Iraq seemingly without regard to what that might allow the Jihadists to accomplish?

Or is it OK for the Jihadists to enslave Iraqi Muslims just as long as they don't mess with any Westerners (that includes Europeans, too)?

The final word is that if the Iranians or al Qaeda or any of the radical Islamic groups are able to take over Iraq it becomes more likely they will be able to expand into Europe and elsewhere!

Pray that Hillary and Obama are pressed to comment on this news story!

Rome is not going to be conquered by Islamists. That's just stupid. And to take it seriously is equally foolish.

The degree to which the Europeans will now rally to the American banner remains to be seen. All that the European allies could tell Mr. Christopher was that whatever the next step was, it must be weighed cautiously.
