Republican Vice President candidates......

I have a couple of possible running mates for John McCain...........The first is Bobby Jindal the governor of Lousiana.........He is a true conservative and I believe would make a great VP and he might draw some of the Paul folks......The second is Mitt Romney.....My opinion really has changed on him..........I think he would make and excellent VP.......

What do you guys/girls think?

McCain's best bet would be Charlie Crist or Tim Pawlenty. If he picks Huckabee, he'll lose any chance of consolidating the base.

Mitt Romney would be a train wreck; there is absolutely no reason for McCain to pick him. And McCain would never pick him anyway...they obviously hate each other.

I don't know much about Bobby Jindal, but he's only been governor for one year. Why would he be a good choice? And who cares about drawing some of the Paul folks? If McCain has to rely on them for his victory, he may as well pack it in now.

Re: Republican Vice President candidates......

I see only two serious choices, Mark Sanford and Tim Pawlenty. Bobby Jindal JUST got elected governor, there's no way he's qualified to be President, which must be a precondition of being vice president. Same goes for Charlie Crist.

I think the best is Sanford, I think either could be very valuable as the foundation of the future of the Republican party.

Re: Republican Vice President candidates......

I think Tim Pawlenty is the smart pick. Minnesota is a swing state that went to Kerry last election. Picking him could swing it to the Republicans. I do not think picking anyone from the Southern States is a good idea, most of them are already safe Republican.

Not that he would take it, but I am surprised no one has mentioned Colin Powell.

I was of the impression he was advising Obama.

Re: Republican Vice President candidates......

Senator Jon Thune has been mentioned. He's a young guy and would help offset the fact that McCain is so old.

As of Feb. 8, 2008, he said on CNN that he was undecided. I found stories from a year ago that he had met with him twice and advised him in those meetings. I don't think he has ever been a member of the campaign though.

I heard those stories from a year ago and just assumed as I never heard anything about those meetings not being part of a thing. That's good news!

Well, he hasn't ruled out Obama. Don't get too excited.

Of course, he also said that he doesn't want an elected office.
