Well since primaries start this month and dont end till February Ive decided that it would be nice to have our own primary and see how well it matches up to when every state gets done with theres. Mods if you be so kind is to keep this topic pinned until the primary elections are over in February.

Are you asking us to guess who will have the most committed electoral votes or who has won the most number of primaries?

I believe you're supposed to vote for who you want to win.

I have one question.............Why are people like Paul and Keyes listed who have no chance to win the nomination?

Why not a bonafied poll with th front runners? Maybe I will start one.............

For a few reasons:

1. The actual primaries will include those candidates.

2. People will vote for those candidates in the actual primaries.

3. The poll would lose credibility if it left them out (for the above reasons).

4. Paul supporters would throw a fit of epic proportions if he was left out.

Thompson is a joke too.;)

Yeah, knock it down to people who have a real chance and you come out with Romney, Giuliani and McCain with an outside shot by Huckabee (if he wins Iowa and Thompson drops out, otherwise he's toast).

Wow, looks like the majority of folk on DP are capable of using the ol noggin for something besides a hat rack…..

If we eliminate those with no chance

Huck is gone. You can't win the nomination when you only raise 5 million in an entire year. Ron Paul has raised more in a single day then this guy. He can't compete on Super Tuesday, so he can't win.

Fred Thompson. He will finish lower then Paul in both Iowa and New Hampshire. So he clearly has no chance. In Iowa, he is lucky to speak in front of more then a crowd of 5-6 people.

McCain. The GOP will not nominate the person most responsbile for shamnesty and the campain finance idiocy. That is McCain's legacy - along with the corruption with the Keating 5.

Guliani. His campaign is in absolute flames at the moment. Nobody has more scandals following him around then "The Ghoul". He is so hated across the country it isn't even safe for him to campaign and he is always running for cover and safety.

So, in reality, this poll should have one name. He has the money, the grass roots support, the lack of corruption, and has a nice hair cut. a poll with one choice - Mitt Romney. :rofl

Mitt Romney? The guy has a record that is 10 times worse than Huck's! Trust me, Huck is MUCH better than plastic Romney.

better at what?

You seem pasisonate about Huck, but when I criticize him for his numerous scandals, you never defend them.

He has taken lucrative gifts while leaving office- this bugs me tremedously.

He was found guilty of numerous ethics violations and tried to use lawyers to shut down the investigation. He failed in doing so which is why we know of these violations.

The story on his son slashing a dogs throat and him using his power to avoid charges seems tangible as well.

Ignoring these concerns won't work.

How about starting a new poll that shows who voted for who? With this type of poll, people can vote multiple times for their candidate without having their duplicity exposed. Not that I think anything of the sort happened....

Lets see, Huckabee created a surplus in his state of 850 mil, whilst Romney has done, ooh, nothing.

I admit, the guy has skeletons in his closet. Every politician does, and I'm not going to defend any the scandals the guy has done. However, I'm more willing to cut the guy some slack because, unlike Romney or Guiliani or Clinton, he does not have the money and the necessities to defend himself. Basically because he stands unarmed.

If your vote for a candidate lies on this issue, then I guess your going to stay home this year, or vote for Alan Keyes. Besides, if you don't mind, were those gifts taken, or were they offered to him?

Mmm hmm, maybe a link please?

Please elaborate - Why did Arkansas need a surplus?

Romney's scandals are that he didn't march with MLK, and he tied his family dog up to the roof in a dog carrier.

Paul's scandals are that someone wrote a racist remark in a newsletter of his and that a White Nationalist gave him $500.

One of Huck's many, many scandals is the abuse of power for personal gain.

I consider Huckabee's scandals to be a million times more sinister and makes him unworthy to hold office at any level of government.

He registered for them - so it was his idea.

I'm not going to link you to a well known scandal. Either research your chosen candidate better or quit talking about him.

For the same reason I need a surplus on my paycheck.

Romney's scandals are that he didn't march with MLK, and he tied his family dog up to the roof in a dog carrier.
And many many others. Here are just a few http://www.massresistance.org/docs/marriage/romney/record/. The source lists many more credible sources also.

No one deserves to hold office. Not even George Washington deserved to hold office. When we vote, we don't, never have, and never will, vote for who is worthy to hold office, we simply vote who is the lesser of 2 evils. Romney has the 2nd most liberal record in this primary election, just behind McCain. http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=11129

I can't believe that you, a "true conservative" could sleep at night voting for the #8 most liberal republican, wheras Huckabee, liberal or no, doesn;t even make the list.

He registered for them - so it was his idea.
So it was legal? Not a scandal in my book, just stupidity.

I'm not going to link you to a well known scandal. Either research your chosen candidate better or quit talking about him.
Or I could just laugh at you for not providing any evidence, guess which sounds more tempting? Please provide evidence? Last time I'm going to ask for it.

What?

I'm a living breathing person. If I'm short of money, my choices are serously limited.

The state isn't a living breathing person. If the state is short of money, they get more money from living people. They don't need a surplus unless they somehow created debt - in which case they truly don't have a surplus anyway.

This is what bugs me about Huck and Huck supporters. They don't truly understand limitied government idealogy, it's just social conservatism with no fiscal conservatism. At first glance I was almost fooled. He talks a good game if you don't fully dive in.

And many many others. Here are just a few The Mitt Romney Deception. The source lists many more credible sources also.

Those aren't scandalous. He changes his mind on issues and is more liberal then I care for. He's a politician who cares to stay elected. I know this about him. Huge difference between that and using your office for political gain - which Huckabee did.

I can't believe that you, a "true conservative" could sleep at night voting for the #8 most liberal republican, wheras Huckabee, liberal or no, doesn;t even make the list.

I never said I would vote for Romney. Nor will I.

So it was legal? Not a scandal in my book, just stupidity.

And a true glimpse into the real man. He actually needed this to blow up in his face before he did away with the gift registry. What kind of idiot wouldn't know this would blow up in his face?

I've posted this to you in other threads that were ignored. It's been posted dozens of times by various people. Here is all you need to do - go to google and enter the following phrases.

Search "Huckabee son kills dog"

Search "Huckabee released serial rapist"

Search "Huckabee asks for gifts"

Those are just the tip of the iceberg apparently. He made the Judicial watch list of 10 most corrupt politicans of 2007. Nothing to be proud of Russ.

Are you kidding me? Arkansas had a huge debt at the time. It somewhere on RCP that said Arkansa had 700 mil dollar + debt before Huck took office.

Huckabee pardoned 12 criminals, yea, he got political gain there.

Either Huck used his office for political gain, or he was stupid and commited a lot of scandals that would otherwise, cause him to have political loss. Which is it?

Lets see, Huckabee created a surplus in his state of 850 mil, whilst Romney has done, ooh, nothing.

Sure he did... by raising taxes.

If I want a surplus to result from more taxation, I'll elect Hillary. If I want a surplus to result from spending cuts, I'll elect Romney.

This is not to say I think Huck (or any Republican) would try to raise taxes. I do, however, think Huckabee would be far more likely to sign tax increases that came to his desk from a Democratic Congress than any other Republican candidate for President. Sometimes it's not about what you'll support. It's about what you'll oppose when it comes to your desk.

These things are not mutually exclusive.

You can be stupid and dishonest. Prisons are full of 'em.

Actually, prisons are missing one of them. He goes by his self-described name of "That commander guy".
