The "ugly women's vote"?

two Hillary ads are playing constantly in SW Ohio. One shows pictures of Hillary at various stages of her life and her talking about how she cares so much for children. Then next ad is the one I am asking about. It has snippets of Trump referring (a woman I assume) to being flat chested, a pig etc.

So is the purpose of this advertisement to gain Hillary the ugly female vote? to make women who have been criticized for their looks to vote for her?

She stands to gain the vote of men and women who think being disrespectful is a bad thing.

I find that really silly and what you are saying is that 5-10-20 years before someone even considers running for president, they cannot say anything that might offend the easily offended? Hillary deliberately attacked women but that gets a pass because she promotes alleged female interests such as abortion and more social-welfare. Its like what the feminists did when they attacked GOP politicians like Packwood while giving well known harassers like Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy passes

Silly? Trump doubled down on his insults towards Alicia Machado yesterday morning. In this election cycle he insulted Carly Fiorina looks and Megyn Kelly in a really vile manner as well. It's who he is. We are talking about Trump. Not other men.

As far as giving passes, yours has been given to a Putin-loving, carnival barker who would blow Iranian boats out of the water (thus starting a war) for making hand gestures to our Navy ships because you think he'll protect 2a rights. Regardless of the fact he constantly "changes" his positions. He's a dangerous, unstable person.

So when a woman enters a beauty contest no one is supposed to say that perhaps she is not pretty? So basically the woman just loses, everyone in the joint thinks she is ugly as sin, and she has no idea.

a corrupt paternalistic society that treats women as objects forces those poor deluded women to engage in a shameful and disgusting treatment of themselves.

and how does a comment about one woman's looks translate to an insult of all women. Was Hillary insulting all women who live in mobile homes when she referred to one of her husband's accusers as trailer park trash.

My purpose in starting this thread was trying to bring some light to the complete nonsense and feigned indignation that is being launched at Trump. There are plenty of reasons to dislike the man but what is funny is that he's been in the public eye for decades and I don't recall anyone claiming he was a racist or a sexist and his business administration was well represented by powerful women. Indeed, if he's a sexist why did he support Hillary in the past?

opinion noted not shared

who do you think Hillary was pandering to with that ad? in my opinion-it was to women who are sensitive about being called "inadequate" by men. That is clearly what her ad was trying to imply-to pander to that group. IS there any real doubt here?

and lets go to a deeper question. DO you think that any man who has made comments critical about the appearance of a woman-be it someone watching a beauty contest-or selecting say walkway models-is disqualified from being president?
Not pandering.

Showing the quality of his character.

She won the contest. He harassed, insulted and shamed Alicia Machado in public after she won. Then he did it again yesterday.

Once more, we are talking about Trump as a candidate for president, not some imaginary man.

OK I agree but how does that ad hit you?

To answer this question more thoroughly, the ad really doesn't hit me at all.

I honestly couldn't care less about what Donald Trump has to say/thinks about women. I'm pretty much totally numb from his constant barrage of insults/degrading comments. I can't even bring myself to be offended.

Like I'm flat-chested, but do I honestly care that Donald Trump said that being flat-chested doesn't "make you a 10"? No, not really. What Trumpster says ain't got no effect on me.

so how does that show his character is deficient and Hillary calling someone trailer trash does not?

You approve of him denigrating and shaming women. Ok. We know where you stand.

this is the sort of blatant dishonesty we are seeing from the Hillary supporters. I am saying why are the Hillary fans going ape over his comments-which I find irrelevant (which is different than saying I APPROVE of them) to someone's fitness to be president while at the same time they have no issue with Hillary denigrating the women who charged her philandering husband with harassment.

Its showing the hypocrisy of part of the clinton fan club

Women's rights extend to whether they stay in their marriage or not. Staying in her marriage does not diminish her commitment to women's issues.

Because the point of the ad is how hearing those terrible insults affects our daughters, as I posted earlier:

https://www.hillaryclinton.com/brie...ric-towards-women-is-having-on-our-daughters/

When a woman gets treated with the utter disrespect that Hillary has by Bill and still decides to stick with him, then she's more enamored with power than she is helping women. You could say that she simply stuck with Bill because the power associated with him can help her to achieve her goals to help women, but then that would be admitting that she's not competent or effective enough to do it herself. Her staying married to Bill is a contradiction to the notion that she's an advocate for the dignity of women.

She stands to gain the vote of men and women who think being disrespectful is a bad thing.

I can't imagine she is going to win over that many men with this kind of thing.

and the clintons have been taking chinese money for decades and hillary's malfeasance led to the deaths of our ambassador and others.

I have said for months both suck. I have to vote for Trump because Hillary is worse on the constitutional rights of Americans and she wants justices who don't care about the constitution but think the purpose of the courts is to achieve "social justice"

Women have been going on about negative comments about their looks for decades and with a man that isn't shy with such comments running for office it's just a matter of Hillary going after an easy target.

Only liberals care about this crap.. Those who want the **** hillary is flinging to stick..

They aren't going to vote Trump anyway and are just trying to justify their terrible decisions as US citizens to vote for the treasonous hag hillary..

you just lost the vote of 3-4 Hillary fans if you ever decide to run for president, with that comment

You are right, I prolly should run for president!!!

My first order of business is to make sure all of the "Hillary fans" get the proper medical access that they so rightfully deserve..
Padded rooms for all!! ...... (not free, we bill them for it)

Oh and build the Trump wall 10 feet higher!!

Orly? 2024!!

Sad, some worry about words said years ago but support candidate who takes money from countries that discriminate against women openly. News flash, our country is under attack from radicals, in massive debt, and racial tensions are very high. Did this happen over nite? I think not. Maybe a change is needed, a different approach to these critical issues. Or we could keep kicking the can down the road and relive similar policies for another 4 yrs.

I think the wall is a stupid idea-a waste of money and ineffective. However, we do need to start doing something about the flood of illegals but its going to take something far more comprehensive than thinking a wall is going to keep people out. We have to crack down on businesses hiring illegals so to undercut American workers. if there is no economic incentive for illegals to come here, the numbers will decrease. I really don't blame people living in a crappy corrupt nation like Mexico from trying to better themselves by moving to a nation with more opportunity. But we have to balance that in light of the fact that our resources and our social net has to be first for American citizens and we don't have a duty to be the source of welfare for people other than our own citizens.

Yeah but a wall would be cool so why not? Especially if Mexico is paying for it sweet..

Put a big gold "TRUMP" on it every 500 feet or so.. Both sides... and top..

In all seriousness a wall will do nothing but help us protect our boarder from all sorts of threats.. It isn't the one single answer but it is a part of an answer and THE place to start..

Quotes or not, it is insulting to women to suggest there is an "ugly women" or the ugly female vote (no quotes there in your OP). It's a poor choice of words and it is your choice of those words that offends me. Hence the last two sentences in my previous post.

I do note that Clinton has been on the side of women's rights her whole career. While Trump only cares about boobs and rating women on their physical perfection.

I'd be willing to bet that at some point in their lives, probably when they were girls and young women, most females felt as if their only worth in life would be decided by their looks, their body, and their sexuality. Trump's comments over the years have amplified those feelings most of us had when we were teased as too fat, too skinny, too ugly. I wore glasses at a time when few kids my age did, so I understand how self-conscious young girls are, and how easily their self-esteem can be damaged.

Over the years, Trump has always been a vulgar misogynist, even to his first wife. When he told her that he wasn't attracted to her any more, he suggested a boob job. She got one. Then he said, boobs are okay, but there's still that face. She got a face lift. After that, he shrugged and said he could never been attracted to a woman who'd born children, and divorced her. His second wife learned he was divorcing her from a press conference he gave on television.

He has spent decades making vulgar comments to women, about women, demeaning, denigrating, bragging about not respecting women, judging woman by their looks and their bodies, and making sure that those who didn't measure up knew about their shortcomings.

BTW, I highly recommend PBS's Frontline: The Choice 2016. It's extremely enlightening about both candidates. Watch Full Episodes Online of FRONTLINE on PBS | The Choice 2016

The only use I see for a giant wall on our Southern border, would be to prevent giant hordes of zombies from getting in the US. Short of that, building a giant border wall is pretty goddamn useless.

It would do a heck of a lot to hinder illegal immigration, drug smuggling, human trafficking, and terrorism..

It wouldn't completely stop it but how could you say it wouldn't HELP us stop it?

Most of the illegal immigrants that come to the US come here legally, they just overstay their visas. A giant border wall won't prevent that from happening.

And there are plenty of ways to get around a border wall. Just ask El Chapo. He could just dig a tunnel to and back from Mexico if he wanted to.

So like I said, a border wall would be ineffective. There are better ways to combat illegal immigration problems.

But I digress, this is going on a tangent.

why not a minefield with sniper posts? sure would be a lot cheaper!

I'll meet you in the middle at electric fence (see Jurassic park) and a bounty on captured illegals, $100 or so each, using only less than lethal means..
