Re: Gallu Poll: Hillary Clinton beats Head-to-Head Matchup Against Every Leading Repu

Iriemon,

It should be noted that Senator Clinton is also working to address one of her most prominent "negatives," the notion that she is highly divisive and unable to reach across the partisan divide. Her recent comments that she would take a non-partisan approach to seeking access to foreign policy expertise while specifically mentioning former Secretary of State Colin Powell as an example of whom she would reach out to, is a potentially effective move in that direction.

Although some Republicans have criticized her citing names as "premature," they greatly miss the point that she is seeking to address the "divisiveness" issue in a substantive and credible fashion. By doing so, she further weakens Senator Obama's claim that he is essentially the ideal candidate to bring people together. It also reduces the effectiveness of a likely general election line of argument that she is incapable of healing present partisan divisions.

For now, she is a move ahead in the electoral chess game that is in its proverbial opening. The polling data likely reflects this early advantage.

Of course.

This is just my immature response to reading at least two (so far) threads plastered by the Republican crowd based on a Zogby internet poll that showed Clinton losing to the Republicans, as if that was some kind of significant indication of something.

Iriemon,

I understand. My current focus on the campaign is to learn more details about the candidates' capacity to serve as President, objectives and positions on the issues, implementation (whether they can reach out to garner sufficient Congressional support to translate vision into policy, budgetary implications of their initiatives, whether they will offer a credible approach to addressing the nation's fiscal imbalance, etc.). Observing their campaign strategy is also interesting.
