Does anyone find it funny how Hillary Clinton is attacking Trump for saying "extreme" things about Muslims when her campaign in 2007 & 2008 was circulating pictures of Obama in an African dress, claiming he was a Muslim and studied at a Madrassa?

"Donald Trump not denouncing false statements about POTUS & hateful rhetoric about Muslims is disturbing, & just plain wrong. Cut it out. -H"

So when you hear people calling Trump a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot please remember Hillary Clinton in 2008 when she and her husband were making comments like this:

"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

"A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee," the former president told the liberal lion from Massachusetts, according to the gossipy new campaign book, "Game Change."

The book says Kennedy was deeply offended and recounted the conversation to friends with fury.

After Kennedy sided with Obama, Clinton reportedly griped, "the only reason you are endorsing him is because he's black. Let's just be clear."

So the real question is, who is more racist Hillary or Trump?

You have not shown Hillary Clinton to have said anything racist. Hint: Bill Clinton is a different person, and allegations are not facts.

Also note that Muslim is not a race, it is a religion.

Thank you for commenting Redress.

You are right. Are these comments in fact racist? Do they prove that Hillary is racist? Probably not 100% without a doubt.

However you cannot deny the subtle racial overtones.

So the real question is, who is more racist Hillary or Trump?

Given what we know to date, there is little doubt that Trump's tone has far more basis in xenophobia than Hillary ever has been in terms of racism.

Ignoring Bill's comments for a moment, and focusing on Hillary's comments there is not much there to suggest prejudice. We know that the 2008 campaign between Hillary and Obama was not always the most civil competition, but I do not see much there rooted in some inherent prejudice. Speaking about demographics and appeal in a primary does not necessarily make one racist, unfairly judging an entire group or race on the assumption of superiority is another matter. Hillary's comments fall into the former.

Now turning the tables back to Bill, it becomes argumentative that his comments were aimed at Obama's race because of some prejudice. That does not make it any less demeaning or insensitive, but I recall the 2008 campaign quite well and there was wide assumption that the beginning of that campaign season on who was next in line for the Democrat nod (for lack of a better way to put it.) Some suggest it was Hillary, others suggest it was Edwards (before that implosion.) Regardless Obama was a relative outsider who came in and caused quite a problem for establishment Democrats on whom to support.

Once it looked like they were going with Obama there was a scramble within the party and it makes sense that Bill trying to ensure support for Hillary would say all kinds of things that could be taken any number of ways. The "coffee" comment included, the who supports who else because of his race being another. I doubt that makes Bill prejudice against black people, he probably just realized that once establishment support started to get behind where the vote *looked* like it was going then Hillary was destine to lose the primary. Which she did anyway, but close. Obama ended up with 53% of the delegates to Hillary's 45%? Something like that.

Personally, I do not think much of Bill or Hillary looking at them both as aristocratic DC insiders with plenty of baggage. But, I doubt either one is racist.

Trump on the other hand has been going after entire demographics since day one with intention. When the debate was about immigration from south of the border, Trump made quite a few comments about an entire group based on the actions of few of them. When the debate was about refugees, Trump has one-upped just about everyone else in the field with wanting not only bans on refugees based on religion but also travel restrictions based on the same factor. Trump wins hands down as being legitimately xenophobic and racist. Making generalized assumptions and judgement of others based on religion or country of origin.

All of us that watch politics with real interest are sitting here waiting for Trump to go after everyone black with the same tone and rhetoric he has gone after Mexicans and Muslims. If you observe how Trump is really speaking about these things to date the conversation is pretty much done.

While Hillary is detestable for many reasons, I don't consider racism to be among them.
