The GOP Stampede Toward Fascism After the Paris Attacks[W:60]

Re: The GOP Stampede Toward Fascism After the Paris Attacks

Most republicans are agains immigration and have a fear of refugees.
That is one of your many stupid comments.

Re: The GOP Stampede Toward Fascism After the Paris Attacks

Funny how some want to tarnish the entire GOP and conservatives in America because a faux Republican and a life-long supporter of Democrats and the Clintons, says stupid things in response to a loaded question from the media.

He has been the consistent Republican front runner since the summer. If he doesn't represent the views of the Republican base, then why does he poll so far ahead of the rest of them?

Beats me. But if you think 20% or so in a primary poll - who knows who's actually being recorded in these things - that has little or no relevance to anything is demonstrative proof that the GOP is, on the whole, fascist, then feel free to join the author of the OP. I don't believe it for a minute nor do I believe Trump is representative or will win in the final count.

He has better than 30%. Once you throw in his, with Cruz's (only take Christians), and Carson's (all kinds of crazy things), you have a solid majority of the GOP base. If you guys don't want the Republican Party to completely devolve into a party of nothing but white reactionaries and fundamentalists, then you need to call it out for what it is.

Complete nonsense, here let me help you. Most republicans are against illegal immigration, see the difference?

Classic.

THOSE people dont comprise a representative sampling! But..,..wait...THOSE people do!

If the frontrunners for a party's presidential nomination don't broadly represent the views of that party's members better than random unnamed individual college kids no one's ever heard of, then that party is in pretty deep trouble.

Trump only reaches 30% in national polls, never in State primary polls. Even then, in States like New Hampshire where Democrats can choose to vote in the Republican primary, I believe the left is pumping Trump.

But hey, like I said, if you choose to view the GOP generally as fascist, as the OP author has, you're welcome to do so.

Take it up with the individual. And while you are at it, reconcile the fact that enough democrats joined republicans in the house to pass legislation that prohibits reckless processing of refugee complaints (or the fact that they had to propose it in the first place).

You are delusional if you think the left is pumping up Trump's numbers. He enjoys leads in states with both open and closed primaries.

That sounds reasonable.

You're not delusional thinking that the GOP is "stampeding toward fascism" but I'm delusional thinking that Democrats would love to run against Trump and will do what they can to see it happen.

Actually, they would really love to run against Carson or Cruz because Carson is certifiable and Cruz is probably the most unlikable asshole in American politics since Nixon, but they I am sure they would settle for Trump. The GOP has a big problem, the more extreme and reactionary a candidate is, the more the base loves them. The more electable a candidate is, the less inspiring they are to the base. Of all the candidates running, Rubio and Kasich are by the far the most electable in a general election, but because they are not courting the crazies and bigots, they stand little chance of winning the nomination.

It's not the Democrats fault that the Republicans have lost the popular vote in ever single election but one since 1988, its the Republican primary voter's fault. Even when they give in and nominate a candidate that is actually electable (Romney for example), they make the candidate move so far to the extreme right in the primaries that they are unelectable in the general.

And that makes Republicans fascists - got it.

Re: The GOP Stampede Toward Fascism After the Paris Attacks

Calling people you dislike names is indicative of immaturity.

What "names" did I call anyone? I did state some negative accusations but I didn't call any one, Poopy Pants! or Doo Doo Head! or any other pejorative term.

To say, ignorance is all too common or that GOP candidates are exploiting said ignorance to induce fear and to promote fascistic policies is not calling anyone "names" You may have another opinion.

Re: The GOP Stampede Toward Fascism After the Paris Attacks

and even funnier are all those who speak of "all too common ignorance" about Islam while being the ones who don't know the first thing about it and simply say the things they say because other people say the same things while shouting down anybody who actually knows a thing or two..

Does this mean you are fully conversant with the multiple beliefs which fall under the banner of Islam?

You called them fascist. Seeing as how they do not in any way support fascism, it is nothing more than name-calling.

Re: The GOP Stampede Toward Fascism After the Paris Attacks

Beats me. But if you think 20% or so in a primary poll

Try 32% according to RCP and then add in Carson's 22% (because he not only supports a Muslim database, he also thinks we already have one) to get a majority of republicans supporting candidates who support the database

That's right. David_N is ignoring how all the republicans are calling for increasing quotas for legal immigration

Trump is actually polling higher in states that don't allow dems to vote in repub primaries

Maybe you should try posting something factual instead of embarrassing yourself

No, just means the majority of the base is extreme and their favorite candidate is kind of a fascist.

We bring in 1 million people legally every year. Illegal immigration rivals that. Why should we 'increase' the number if illegal immigrants, considering we as a country cannot sustain our own population?

If there's something you want to know, you'll have to ask a question in English. Stringing random english words together isn't good enough

Thats about as weak yet oh so clear a surrender as I have seen here.

Funny how they're usually the same people who don't want Muslims or Islam to be tarnished because of the actions of a few terrorists who murder in the name of Allah.

Well, the entire GOP is responsible for their public image aren't they? If the GOP is going to allow this nonsense to speak for the party, then they must agree with it. If they don't, then they better start building that wall they want, only put it around the radical idiots.

Troll much?

No...he throws out false arguments, lies to support them, then runs when called on it. Its kinda his thang. Being opposed to illegal immigration does not equal being opposed to legal immigration and it damn sure doesnt support the other cats use of the word 'xenophobe'. But it DOES allow them to spew hatred and shriek about racism.
