"I would do that," Trump replied. "Absolutely, I think it’s great. I know they have a lot of proposals over there. If you go out and you go fight for ISIS, you can't come back.”
“Can you do it?” Varney asked the reality TV star.
"Why can't you do it?" Trump replied. "You can do it here."
“Can you close a mosque?" Varney insisted. "I mean, we do have religious freedom.”
“Well, I don’t know,” Trump stated. “I mean, I haven’t heard about the closing of the mosque. It depends, if the mosque is, you know, loaded for bear, I don’t know. You’re going to have to certainly look at it.”

He doesn't say whether he would actually issue a decree to abolish the First Amendment, or simply ignore it and issue an executive order to close any mosque he finds to be "loaded for bear."
 
The republican candidates are saying the darnedest things..

umm... this thread is lacking in honesty.

anyone who can read english can see he's primarily talking about withdrawing passports.... on the mosque issue, he tones it down and qualifies his position.

Trump is a blowhard dolt in my mind, but that's no excuse to be dishonest about what he says.

did Clinton issue a decree or executive order when he "closed down" the Branch davidians complex by killing everyone inside?
 
Not a great path we are going down when deciding what Churches stand, and which others fall. Have we learned nothing from history?

If a Mosque is operating as a front for terrorism or criminal activity, yes it can be closed, there is no first amendment violation.

Just ask the Branch Davidians how that first amendmet shield worked when Bill Clinton wanted to boost his gun control cred

His supporters love to say he didn't say what he clearly did say, as what he said was absurd. Does he believe he can close down mosques in the USA? He doesn't seem to be sure. What, exactly, does he mean by "loaded for bear?"

Problem is, he shoots off his mouth, then it's up to his supporters to interpret what he said in the most positive way. But, if you take his words at face value, he has made some rather absurd statements.

it was not ok for Clinton to Kill everyone in that church..... then again, all Trump said, in the end , was " You’re going to have to certainly look at it"

i ain't mad at Clinton for taking a look at the Branch davidians... I'm pissed as hell at what they decided to do after they " took a look" though..

Sounds just like what happens when Obama speaks off script. Can't tell you how many people told me he didn't actually say that business owners had no part in building their businesses. Uhm...yeah...that's exactly what he said.

I watched it. Trump was indeed talking about closing Mosques in America. He backtracked a little bit later.

I'm no Obama supporter, but those who do support him have a much easier time of explaining what he said. He does have a filter, so all you have to do is quote the context as I just did. Trump does not have a filter. Trump as president would be like a POTUS with tourettes.

Do I think he'd really go around closing down mosques? No. Does he even know whether he can do such a thing? From his unedited statements, probably not.

Tell me how the "context" changes the meaning of the words? What in your mind makes those words great and inspiring? Certainly he's not showing a lot of respect for those who are successful. Do you agree that business owners have zero hand in building infrastructure (if that's what you're claiming he meant). We could probably save time here. Is there anything Obama has ever said you actually wouldn't find some way to spin and make excuses for? Is there anything he's ever said and or done that he's actually responsible for? No, right? Read the words for yourself.

If you still think he said that business owners didn't build their own businesses then there isn't much of anything that can convince you otherwise anyway.

And there are no "folks like me." I'm unique. I think for myself, and don't simply ditto anything someone else says, which is why I'm a dittohead not.

But, the thread is not about me. It's about Donald Trump shooting off his mouth without knowing what he is talking about.

I don't see how you can interpret the statement any other way. The guy is from NYC which has the largest Moslem population in America , I'm willing to bet the Amount of business he's done with Moslems measures in billions. I doubt that his statement was some secret code for shutting down all mosques. Context makes it clear what he meant. And the idea he actually expressed is not at controversy.
