Where do the candidates stand on the issues - A guide for 2008

Instead of voting for a party, how about voting for a candidate? This comprehensive list shows where all the candidates stand on just about all the important issues that we as Americans are now facing.

This is one of the best websites around that tracks candidates' positions, and I hope that this thread will be made sticky by the mods.

2008 Presidential Candidates' Stands on the Issues.

Awesome find, dana. I did a search the other day for a site just like this, and didn't see this one.

They left off a lot of important issues though.

Wow, Ron Paul was looking pretty good up until the war issues.

Paul is a bona-fide Goldwater Conservative. Goldwater would have pulled us out of Vietnam, and certainly would not have escalated the war as Johnson did. Just as time has vindicated Goldwater's position on the Vietnam War, it will also vindicate Paul on his opposition to the Iraq war.

Ron Paul came across as weak and whiney in the debates. He made some valid points though, ones I could accept and run with.

However, his position on the war negates everything else. Had he come up with a solution other than "we're not nation builders, let's bail out now" I might have considered him.

You mean because your position is that we are nation buildes and thus should start building more nations?

They definitely needed to include free trade on the list, as it's one of the most important political issues out there (even if it isn't as sexy as some of the others).

As far as I can tell, their positions on free trade agreements are as follows:

Biden: OTHER (Generally favors)
Clinton: OTHER (Generally favors)
Dodd: AGAINST
Edwards: AGAINST
Gravel: FAVORS
Kucinich: AGAINST
Obama: AGAINST
Richardson: FAVORS

Brownback: FAVORS
Giuliani: FAVORS
Huckabee: FAVORS
Hunter: AGAINST
McCain: FAVORS
Paul: OTHER (Generally against)
Romney: FAVORS
Tancredo: AGAINST
Thompson: FAVORS
