I met Marco Rubio last night

So you are a far left wingnut and never intended on voting republican anyway. Ok. Then why post here in this particular forum

No. I'm a centrist who really-really hates religion in politics, and even more so hates white populist trash like what Trump pumps. If I was a Leftist, I'd support Bernie Sanders.

Rubio is against Roe vs. Wade, legalization of marijuana and is against same-sex marriage...which means he is a political dinosaur with virtually NO chance to win the White House as he will sway near zero Dems.

He is also for roving wire taps on Americans, more american involvement in areas of the world that are none of her business and sounds a lot like a neocon.

This guy might be bright and he may have a chance at the Rep nomination (though looking at the polls - that is doubtful)...but he has ZERO chance at the White House so long as he holds these ridiculous viewpoints that more and more Americans are turning against.

Sure, if he can transport himself back to 1970 or 1980...he would have a shot. But 2016? No chance at all.

Mark my words - NO Republican will EVER get into the White House so long as he/she holds onto these ridiculously outdated ideas such as being anti-same sex marriage/pot legalization and supporting wire tapping Americans (general terrorist paranoia), etc.. The world is slowly (but permanently) growing past these outdated notions and if the Reps do not grow with it, they will be politically left behind.

His tax ideas seem fine and his budget ideas are going in the right direction...but most of this other nonsense makes him look incredibly dated (politically). When will the Reps realize that holding onto these other outdated ideas are vote killers?

Once again, I despise both major parties.

Don't fool yourself, he doesn't have to convince dems, only republicans and independents.

He is a lot further Right than is being sold.
Marco Rubio on the Issues

THe only reason this guy comes across as moderate is because he is Left of Ted Cruz and Scott Walker on a few issues and sane on immigration, unlike Donald--who is completely bonkers and taking all the Mexican hating nuts with him.

Trump supporters have gone next-level, obsessed with gooney-bird fantasies about "white genocide," a global plan to exterminate white people by sending waves of third-world immigrants across American and European borders to settle and intermarry.

...They've turned some minor cultural changes into a vast conspiracy of white victimhood. They're eating up Trump's "Make America Great Again" theme (which one supporter hilariously explained must be his true goal, because "it's on his hat"), because it's a fantasy tale of a once-great culture ruined by an invasion of mongrel criminals.

Are you really citing rolling stone? Why even comment if you are so partisan that you would cite a liberal rag that has been caught making things up? Why not just cit mother jones?

Good idea

Rubio Is Poised to Win the Billionaire Primary | Mother Jones

When it comes to the superrich, Rubio offers something the other GOP candidates don't: a tax plan that would completely eliminate taxes on investment income, which would disproportionately benefit the extremely wealthy. With the exception of Mike Huckabee, who would eliminate taxes on all forms of income and replace them with a massive sales tax, Rubio is the only candidate who wants to eliminate taxes on dividends and capital gains.

At least everyone can see how irrelevant your opinion of rubio is. Or any other republican candidate.

We got there a little late so during his address to the group we were in the back, but after the party my husband and our friends and I spent a lot of time talking to him. He is one very enticing candidate. He talked a lot to the group about Trump and was really brushing off Trump's idiotic comments about him. He is very well spoken, smart, and IMO would make a great President.

A lot of the people there were former Walker supporters, and they said that the Walker support, such as it was, seems to have gone to Rubio.

There is a general anti-Jeb sentiment shared by the Rubio supporters.

If Kasich doesn't move up in the polls, I'm not going to waste my vote on him. I'm going with Rubio and will have no regrets.

I'm guessing you didn't happen to ask him about his infamous "Gang of 8", de facto amnesty bill that he was pushing, huh?

Conservatives really need to think hard about the consequences of supporting Mr. Rubio. I mean just inagine if he makes it and is elected President. His top priority will not be jobs, foreign policy, or the economy. His top priority will be to grant unlimited; blanket amnesty. And it will be fast-tracked with that amnesty loving Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House. But to hell with our laws!
