Carly Fiorina Talks, Iowa Swoons, as Polls Shrug.....

As with all things in this primary, it's far to early to tell.

I do wish her well, as she is by far the most effective Republican candidate for inconveniently pointing out Hillary's many, many foibles over her long and storied public career; the only candidate that can avoid the bogus 'sexist' accusations that are sure to follow any such inconveniently pointing out.

August 6th is barely over two months away for the 1st debate.
I expect legal action for the nine left out.

Not much time to gain National Recognition for candidates like Fiorina still running retail campaigns in IA, NH, and SC.
At least CNN is having 'major' candidates debate and 'minor' candidates debate .

True. That part is not that far off. Didn't realize it was this close, so yeah.

Dunno. Isn't it the GOP that's decided to limit it to the 10 front running / highest polling candidates? Is it not their purview to do so?

Yeah, I can see that.

Cheers to you, Nimby! And have a Happy Memorial Day!

What we should have learned from Obama is that we need a leader with experience in the executive branch (a governor) or plenty of experience in the Senate. Without experience with working with the Senate we will have a leader greatly unprepared.

I agree.....and I think Fiorina will be hard pressed taking on some Governors. I already mentioned the likes of Cruz and Rubio. Graham should be included too.

If Fiorina doesn't get to make the rounds on FOX, she won't be in the top ten of the polls FOX uses .

Seems that can be said of some others to, huh? She has answers and hasn't been avoiding questions. Like others.

While supporters in Iowa noted that she had doubled her standing in state polls, it was a statistically insignificant change from 1 percent to 2 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released May 6. (That may seem piddling, but the same poll had Mr. Santorum, who won the Iowa caucuses in 2012, also at 2 percent, while 5 percent supported Mr. Bush.)

In perhaps the most meaningful sign that Ms. Fiorina is gaining, she is starting to annoy others in the back of the pack. After the Lincoln Day Dinner, a flustered Donald Trump, told The Register that more people had come to his hospitality suite than to Ms. Fiorina’s, which seemed a debatable claim. “I had people counting. I was curious,” he said.

“She’s a nice woman,” said Mr. Trump, who is expected to announce his own plans next month. “But she got fired viciously from Hewlett-Packard.”....snip~

Cruz and Graham don't have a chance of winning. Graham doesn't have the personality, and Cruz seems too crazy. Rubio, Bush, Huckabee, and Walker have a good shot. Fiorina won't have any government accomplishments to speak of.

I don't see Huckabee winning. At least I hope not. I think he's almost Michele Bachmann bat-scheit type crazy.

All the RNC has done is to say less debates, spread them out, and no gotcha questions--so no NBC.

Just to clarify, the RNC did turn over the specifics of who would debate to FOX.
It was FOX who decided on the top ten in the "five most recent meaningful" polls before August 4th--whatever Rove wants that to mean.
Leaving a lot of doubt in GOP minds as to who they will favor--Walker and Rubio for sure--but who might they want to keep out?

Same will eventually be true with DEMs, but several months later.
Clinton, O'Malley, and Sanders for sure--many independents want to see Webb run.
I was hoping for a few other governors besides O'Malley--but the bench is thin.

Nixon got hurt by Ferguson, Beshear won't run, and Brown has his hands full with California.
Not that you would vote for HRC, but I'm sure you would agree Obama got battle-tested in the primaries and debates by a strong challenger .

He has a good personality although his extreme social conservatism can kill his chances. Another reason he can win is because his opponents have their own flaws. Walker has corruption problem, seen as cold and uncaring, and is boring. Bush has a family name that can drag him down. Rubio lacks experience. Christie has a major corruption problem, Cruz seems radical and crazy, and Carson sometimes comes across as inexperienced and lacking of political knowledge.

Seems that can be said of some others to, huh?

Exactly--we haven't seen hide nor hair of Walker in some time, huh?
He was in Israel getting boned up on foreign policy and it seems to have paid off in his Oklahoma City event so far.

Kochs and Adelson are holding off for now--but if you're a betting man, they'll back Walker .

Huckabee keeps coming up with some positions that just aren't going to sell to anyone except a small handful of people.

The Jush Duggar support being his most recent example. Really, he would have done better to just keep quiet.

Yeah, it's an interesting conundrum that you point out. Who will the GOP keep out of the primary debates, as it seems like none of them has as wide a base of support as one might want them to have. Well, that's why they've got the high paid analysts for all that I guess.

Same will eventually be true with DEMs, but several months later.

Yeah, the Dem bench is really thin and looks to continue to be thin for the years coming, with all the strong Republican governors that have been voted in. All that's left for their primary is Hillay's coronation. All rather disgusting if you ask me, this default coronation of a corrupt Queen Bee.

Nixon got hurt by Ferguson, Beshear won't run, and Brown has his hands full with California.

Obama battle-tested? Well, maybe at the beginning when Hillary was a serious challenger to him, back before the media fell in love with Obama, ignored all his sandals, miss-steps, and didn't do the vetting of him that they should have, the vetting they owe the American electorate. Once the media fell for Obama, It's all over but the shouting, for Hillary, and once they did, there was going to be no way in hell that they weren't gonna be denied their first African-American president.

I see the media eventually playing the same game for Hillary because she'd be the first woman president, but so far, they've not shied away from covering her foibles, so maybe they learned their lesson from their irresponsibility with Obama? I have no idea, but I'm watching this closely.

I actually agree with him on Duggar. Duggar did this when he was a teenager and has the forgiveness of his victims. How many of us haven't made some bad choices as teenagers or at least wanted to?

Duggar seems to have straitened himself out and I think we should give him a change.

Duly noted, just that politically it wasn't a wise move, IMO. Popular opinion quickly ran the other way. Not saying he should've hopped on the bandwagon if he honestly didn't feel that way, but sometimes it's better strategy to say nothing.

I think he was taking a political risk and he lost. He was just trying to honestly speak his mind and seem like the more mature person and it did not work. He will not lose much from that failure.

While he is very socially conservative, so is the rest of the republican field. That is probably more than an asset than anything for winning the nomination. I do not think he has a chance against Hillary but he has a chance against his competitors.

Personally I think Rubio is the most likely winner.

Oh, I know neither Graham or Cruz will win.....just that they can handle Fiorina with any FP issues. They know how the Senate works first hand. Fiorina doesn't.

All Walker is.....is the position poll leader. He is to young and won't get the call. NO FP experience or National.

Huckabee doesn't stand a chance either.

Bush is in play due to the money.....but thats about it.

I am sure they will back Rubio to.....Walker needs all the Help he can get with FP. Hoping Tenet can pull him thru is nothing more than a Hope.

She should explain how she will translate her burn-it-to-the-ground-then-golden-parachute-out corporate strategies translate to running the country. I mean, government finances are like personal/business finances, I've been told.

For all of the talk of 19 candidates, there's really only four IMHO--Bush, Walker, Rubio, and Paul.
The candidate casino on Baier on Friday wraps it up pretty well--with FOX blatantly ignoring Paul.

The other six who make the top ten on FOX's debates will spend their time attacking those four.
We still don't know if Paul gained with his 'Patriot Act' gambit since it isn't settled for another week.

Walker stands a good chance of winning Iowa--yet Paul has a good ground game there.
New Hampshire and South Carolina are entirely different animals.
And now we see other Southern states moving to March 1st to have an 'SEC' primary.

The key for all of the candidates is to get as much exposure on FOX and the other networks as possible.
Since polls now decide who will be debating .

Well so far.....Fiorina is hammering Hillary wherever she goes and moreso than any of the other Repubs. I would have her show all up and around where Hillary has been. Keep reminding the public just how she can never be trusted to do the Right thing.

That little Gem about mangers and leaders.....she can use well against Hillary. Pointing out Hillary would be a manager not a Leader.

Not a good manager either!

She's here in NH today (again). Our media is good about giving all candidates a mention on the news. Every day it's who is here and where he/she will be. She's getting a good look here.

She can hammer Hillary all she wants--GOP candidates still refer to in 2nd-class ways.
Wait until Bernie Sanders starts firing back on all the GOPs .

So Rand Paul will be his stumper, huh?

What he needs to do is start tearing Hillary up rather than thinking she is a friend.

After she gets done with him.....he will be the 3rd Weekend at Bernie's.

I think Huckabee does stand a chance, but only because of the weakness of his opponents. His strongest opponents are Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio. If I had to guess who the nominee will be I will likely guess either Bush or Rubio. I am sure that most of their contenders know they are going to lose. They just want the national attention for future presidential campaigns.

Huckabee has been in Iowa.....for some time. That's where he has some play. He needs Iowa for momentum.

He will have trouble with Kasich after he jumps in the game. Same deal with any other Governors and Senators.
