The case for Paul Ryan to be vice president

The national standard of course wants the most far right VP they can get. If Romney Chooses Ryan as VP..Id put money on him losing Florida in Nov and he does not want to do that.

In the past 48 hours or so, talk of the Wisconsin Republican Congressman as Mitt Romney’s pick for vice president has surged — largely due to a piece written in the Weekly Standard urging the GOP presidential nominee to choose Ryan.

Romney is losing the election no matter who he chooses as VP; so it really doesn't matter.

Won't happen, simply too controversial a figure to be considered a safe choice. I also think his popularity is quite overstated, even among conservative circles.

People don't vote for the VP candidate. If the top of the ticket sucks, you're not going to get the votes. The Republicans will either learn this or they will be doomed to never stepping foot inside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue again.

Rubio won Florida campaigning on entitlement reform, and I would suspect most seniors are smart enough to realize that the Obama administration not only cuts more from Medicare, but starts cutting for current seniors, whereas the Ryan plan does not.

Romney has already endorsed the Ryan plan, and so he will be held to account for it anyway. Best to have the most erudite defender (who made the President look like a fool on national television) in the spotlight.

My main problem with Ryan as a VP is losing him in the House.

If that is Romney's choice for VP, then Ryan will become the new Sarah Palin. For that reason, I hope he does pick Ryan.

McCain lost because of Sarah Palin. He was getting too old and the notion of her becoming president if he passed away while in office was just too much for Americans to bear. The notion of Ryan becoming president if anything to Romney would be just as unbearable for the majority of the population and that would include Republicans who love their Social Security and Medicare.

How would that be Paul Ryan? His budget plan? It was quite moderate.

ryans plan didnt exactly smell like roses, but sadly its been the best offered so far(except the bipartisan plans ried blocked)truthfully though it would be an awesome plan if it was tweaked and eliminated all tax exemptions,as well as made it law that congress couldnt enact more exemptions.

the way i see it,liberals are crying for the rich to pay higher rates, half the rich dont pay anything or get super low rates, just look at ge,but should we raise taxes on those paying taxes,or simply end loopholes on those not paying taxes.ryans plan eliminates loopholes, but only some,if he had eliminated all of them in his plan,he could boost revenue and productivity, rather than playing corporate welfare while making the unfavored pay the tab.

my guess is that if Romney loses, Ryan runs in 2016 or 2020. whether he wins is anyone's guess. i suppose it largely depends on how much people buy into privatizing medicare. i do not support that policy.
