Term Limits..........again

How rude. I think she should make us some sammiches while the men are talking. ;)

You can't sucker me into sexist speech. Others try already... lol.

[h=2]Term Limits........again[/h]
The GOP is submitting to Congress a Constitutional Amendment to limit the terms of Senators and Members of the House. The proposal would limit Senators to a maximum of two, six year terms and Members to three, two year terms.

I say this is as stupid, and destructive as the limits imposed by the 22d Amendment on the office of the President. If any of you out there really want term limits, then why not real term limits: One federal elective office per person per lifetime. Now that's term limits. Anything else is just an arbitrary figure.

We should have term limits. Most voters are not knowledgeable when it comes to politics. Many voters who are knowledgeable when it comes to politics play the lesser of two evils game.Its how we have rampant corruption. I don't think term limits go far enough.We should have a 5 year waiting period between elected and appointed offices so that they simply can just switch between offices or be appointed to various appointed offices by their buddies who become president. Saying elections are term limits is just something only a brain dead moron would spout. If most voters were knowledgeable when it comes to politics and didn't play the lesser of two evils game then sure elections would be a reliable form of term limits.

I'm usually against most term limits, because I find that it either exhausts the pool of talented politicians or it arbitrarily reduces the ability for said skilled and talented politician to continue to serve in that capacity. Furthermore, such democratic proposals also harm purposefully aristocratic institutions from operating as designed, like the Senate.
Nobody is irreplaceable and the work they do does not take extraordinary talent, while the abuses are far more common.

Damn, I can't believe it. I actually agree with all that you said. Just goes to show that no one has a monopoly on being right or wrong.
