As secretary pro temp of the convention, and acting under the instructions of PirateMK1, president pro temp of the convention, I'm posting this thread for official nominations for president of the convention.

Any person who has voted yes in the original poll regarding the convention and only such a person may nominate.

Any nomination of another person must be confirmed by the person nominated.

Any self-nomination must be seconded by another person.

A person may make multiple nominations and seconds.

Nominations, acceptances, and seconds may not be rescinded. If anyone wishes to exclude themselves from being nominated or from having their nomination recognized, they should PM me.

11-06-14 11:59 PM CST is the latest any actions will be accepted in this thread.

Well, I'm one of the newer members, but I've had dealings especially with APACHERAT, PirateMk1, sangha, vasuderatorrent. Any of those would be acceptable.

PirateMk1 and sangha have already been nominated, I'd second on both of those.

US Conservative, I see, has withdrawn.

Presidents often set the tone, which you already have been doing. So I would nominate you, Paleocon.

Is this going to turn into something regimented or rigid? I don't know, fellas, creating titles, it doesn't really seem necessary. At any rate, I wouldn't know who to vote for anyway, and I'm not going to nominate myself nor accept a nomination. Why can't we just have some giant conversations about great ideas to form a more perfect union based on the fair rule of law, civil liberties and freedoms? The formalities are unimportant, we haven't even started the project yet. The pre-project starting elected officials could lead us to disaster for a variety of reasons. Why not wait until after we've already started and the people that are going to put in the time to get the best results possible, why not have this formality then?

The unofficial threads people can throw about ideas, think of it as an idea sandbox anybody can play as they please. The Official threads are more structured and for bringing together the better ideas and arguments from the sandboxes into an Official forum for working on rejecting adjusting and finalizing as needed for inclusion into a final product.

I firmly disagree. These are people with huge ideas. These are people with opposing ideas. Formalities and rules are the only way anything can be accomplished under these types of conditions. At minimum we should elect a President before we start. I'd also like to see a membership list but that's not even as important as electing a President.

How do rivers behave when they have no direction? It floods, kills people and destroys things. How do rivers behave when they have direction? They serve as a powerful source of transportation, a vast water supply, a massive wildlife habitat and even provide electricity. Any large movement needs direction.

The formalities are very important (and annoying).

I understand why you may wish to leave. I for one appreciate your participation. However Paleocon is going by the list of participants on this thread http://www.debatepolitics.com/polls...litics-constitutional-convention-w-183-a.html that's probably why you are not listed. If you would like to participate still just go to that poll and vote in it and you will be added to the list of participants and able to participate in the official voting and threads. You are still able to participate in the unofficial threads regardless as they are the sandbox for idea formation and therefor open to all. I for one would like to see you continue on in a official capacity.

If you ignore their request then you create unnecessary animosity. Why would you do that? Are you trying to manipulate the nomination process in your favor? What is your agenda? I have caught you shoving rules down our throat on more than one occasion. What are you up to?

PirateMK1 told me I could require the nominations be in whatever format made it easiest for me to tally them. If I were to accept invalid actions now, but at some point in the future were to miss such an action, it could lead to accusations of favoritism. Thus it is best that only valid actions be accepted.

This is no way benefits me, one of the invalid nominations was for me.

But on that note, I nominate myself.
