Why the Republicans Failed:

They didn't fail, it took bribes, lies and political shinaningans to get enough votes to pass that POS.

Your ability to exaggerate is only topped by your lack of understanding of what transpired.
again, the meaning of my post is misunderstood. republicans failed becasue they didn't destroy obama, not because the bill passed. it seems your lack of understanding is chronic.

They weren't try to destroy Obama, they were trying to destroy this piece of legislation. Comprende?

And the point you fail to recognize is that it is far too early to make that claim.

Sure they did. They bet the farm that McConnell's dumb "do not play with the Dems on anything" would be Obama's Waterloo. They underestimated Pelosi, Reid and Obama. Now they have egg on their face. They're even backing off their stupid "Repeal and Replace" mantra because they know it is virtually impossible to repeal the law, since it takes 67 votes in the Senate and they only have 41 now.

my point was never about the passing of the bill. and i guess we'll see about the future. when the health care furor bewcomes old news, and the economy improves, albeit in fits and starts, how will that play for the republicans?

dems will continue to paint the republicans as obstructionists, and for the most part, they are. most congressman have absolutely no interest in the country's welfare at this point. they have such hatred of obama, it will do them in.

Yes, we will. 2010 elections will speak loudly to that effect.
Until then, given your argument, it is -impossible- to argue that the GOP failed.

i'll be around, god willing.

Just so long as you agree that your argument, that the GOP -HAS- failed, is currently impossible to support.

fair enough
but for the time being, i see nothing to indicate in any way how the GOP has succeeded
but maybe you would be kind enough to point out those successes i have missed

Are you sure? Who was it ho said this would be Obama's Waterloo? While I don't think republicans have any desire to do healthcare reform, as evidenced by them doing nothing when they were in charge, there did seem to be a beat Obama theme.

I agree. The economy is getting better as we speak, thanks to President Obama. I really feel good about some of the shy liberals who never spoke out against the republican lie machine, posting on the internet.

This is the result of President Obama setting an example by standing up to the extreme wing nuts, who do nothing but echo right wing talk radio idiots.

I don't think any president or congress controls the economy. So, while I believe Obama had little choice but to try something, the factors that govern the economy will ultimately come from outside the government.

What about the socialistic tarp program brought to us by congress and two presidents?

Stop gap measures at best. It might help things not get worse, but it didn't control the economy. There are too many variables under our system for the government to control it. If they could, it would never go badly.

I agree. I understand your point. Money is, after all only theory the way it is now. No more 25 pounds of tobacco for an enema, anymore.

And we have zero conservative representation, and the rest of the country will end up in the same piss poor condition that plagues cities like Detroit, buffalo, NO, LA, and so forth.
What problems do those cities have that other cities don't? Let's see you noted Michigan, NY, NO, CA and so forth.

In February, nonfarm payroll employment decreased in 27 states and the
District of Columbia and increased in 23 states. The largest over-the-
month decreases in employment occurred in Virginia (-32,600), followed
by California (-20,400), Michigan and Pennsylvania (-16,000 each), Mary-
land
(-13,800), and Texas (-13,000). Alaska experienced the largest
over-the-month percentage decrease in employment (-1.0 percent), followed by Virginia (-0.9 percent) and Arkansas, the District of Columbia,
and Maryland (-0.6 percent each).

Over the year, nonfarm employment decreased
in 49 states and increased in 1 state and the District of Columbia. The
largest over-the-year percentage decreases occurred in Nevada (-5.2 per-
cent), Wyoming (-4.4 percent), California (-4.1 percent), and Arizona
(-4.0 percent).

In short-an elitist snob who never held a single job IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR!!

Unlike the Shrub who failed at all of his, including the Presidency. :2wave:

Aucontraire, Komrade. "Reasonable" as defined by Liberals is Conservatives capitulating to them, pure and simple.

"Au Contraire" is french. Comrade is was commonly used in English (from the Spanish "camarada" long before it was used by Communists. What's the point you're trying to make with those words? Or did you simply think it makes you sound intelligent and worldly? :rofl

Apparently you don't.

In the end, the bill that was passed was not nearly as bad as the bill that had originally passed the house. Most notably, it didn't have a public option.

Republicans believe in health care reform, simply not the health care reform proposed by the Democrats. Also, the Republicans had no power to influence the bill because the Democrats had, without republican support, secured enough votes to pass the bill.

Finally, although Obama failing would have been a nice side-effect, I do not believe that was the purpose of Republican opposition to the bill. The bill was and is incredibly flawed and the Republicans were simply doing their best to put a stop to it.

In other words, Republicans belive in health care reform as long as they and their big business butt-buddies are allowed to **** the poor out of a god damn percentage!

Comrade is used a lot in germany today. It has a different meaning to them. It means "friend" in german.
