Sick thread.
There is a new teacher every week in the news caught abusing students but you cling to hack politics.

As parents, our job is to prepare our children for the world, not hide them from it.Joking aside, trusting how you raised your child and then sending him out into the world to engage with people and ideas different from your own is essential to becoming a well rounded, educated person. Independence is essential.
WTF? This seems to be implying that the kids going to be abused by someone, so it may as well be done in the home.

You really have challenges interpreting the written word don't you? That's right homeschooled kids are locked away from the world.
Where do you make this shit up from?
What About Socialization? How Does Homeschooling Affect Social Skills?
Socialization plays a key role in childhood development, so it's natural to wonder how homeschooling impacts your student's social skills. But homeschoolers have unique opportunities to socialize!www.time4learning.com

So you can read. Can you tell the difference between hiding the world from someone and locking them away from it?I'm not the one accusing parents of hiding their kids from the world. That was your dumb idea.
Yes, that was the implication.
I have reported suspected abuse several times. Nothing is ever done.
Exactly. Which means the vast, vast majority of people who abuse their children send them to public schools. There are far more parents who abuse their children than there are teachers who abuse students.

Well, considering that the vast majority of people in general send their kids to public school, that statement doesn't mean much.
As if pointing out teachers that teachers, being a small minority of the population. abuse fewer children than parents do was somehow a significant point.
By numbers or percentages there are fewer teachers abusing kids compared to parents.
The ol' socialization chestnut! Have you ever homeschooled? We did with both our children. They played sports, with other children. They did non-core classes like drama etc, with other children. They did the typical 'after school' type activities with other children. They went out doing charity work with other children. They made friends like children do. They travelled with us for my work but kept up with their studies while learning a lot more life lessons. All they didn't do was get influenced by some other parents uncontrolled, bad attitude, disruptive child in a class each day, and they learned to become more self sufficient and manage their time properly etc. Both our ~20 year old children (son and daughter) are good cooks, can do reasonable carpentry, can do their car maintenance, son can build an engine for you, can do some heavy construction, can do basic/mid level electrics, have advanced practical skills in so many things because we built that into their education. Homeschooling can move their academic studies faster, and leave time for the stuff that they won't get at school.Joking aside, trusting how you raised your child and then sending him out into the world to engage with people and ideas different from your own is essential to becoming a well rounded, educated person. Not the least bit surprising considering the small percentage of teachers (under 4M in the US) as a profession. The US workforce is about 167M people.
There are no background checks to be a parent so how on earth do you think there should be a background check to homeschool?
School doesn’t start until age 5-6…who is making sure kids under age 5-6 aren’t being abused?
Your logic is faulty from point A.
School doesn’t exist to prevent child abuse.
