Nixon had some supporters, but not nearly enough to save his doomed political career. Contrast that with trump, who makes Nixon look like a mere jaywalker.

IMO if you wanted to compare Nixon with anyone it might be Hillary Clinton (server issue, Steele dossier Russia collusion farce), and Joe Biden aka "The Big Guy" who sequestered secret documents for personal use without authority to do so, influence peddled, and weaponized the DOJ against his political opponent.

The difference is that we don't stand by Democratic politicians when they are shown to be corrupt. For example, Bob Mendenez. Very few if anybody on our side is supporting him. Now can you imagine the level of support if he were a Republican?

The right seems to be forgetting that all of the accusations they've been listing turned out to be baseless BS.
None of these got beyond their partisan investigation stage. They keep bringing them up because they know their fellow extremists will either just play along or they just remember the accusations but not the real result.
Please don't say a bunch of bad things about my post. I just don't think I could bear it.

The biggest thing about Nixon was he got caught.
Johnson did plenty also.
JFK with numerous known mafia connections, and some that are noted but not proven.

Did you ever consider that getting caught means you are guilty and not getting caught means you are innocent.
A delegation of Republican Senators went to Nixon and told him he would not survive a Senate vote. Gold water told him he had virtually no support from his own party. Nixon then asked Goldwater if he was going to vote against him and Goldwater said yes. That is why Nixon resigned on his own rather than being thrown out of office by his own party. Then of course Ford pardoned him. It was the only thing that kept him out of Prison.
Nixon thusly avoided serving time but most of the top people went to prison. Nixon was guilty not because of bad luck but because he was a crook.
So is Trump.

Members of Congress back then weren't as partisan as they are now.
Trump is worse than Nixon, but he will likely never get convicted from the Senate if he becomes President again and impeached again.

The trouble is, Democrats still eat their own when caught. Nowadays the GOP just says "so what, we're allowed", whatabout these dems doing (whatever half baked example), and nobody in the GOP will hold anyone else accountable.

It's obvious why your posted this without any comment to specifics it contained. It's all of the foreign policy related and how we treat other countries stuff. We've heard about these things and have dismissed them for decades. Nicaragua under Eisenhower, bay of pigs under Kennedy, Grenada, Nicaragua under Reagan, Several Presidents got his for helping Israel commit many and various crimes against Palestine. Crimes against Iran, Lots of VietNam War stuff including destroying crops and use of napalm, Iraq war (this one was a crime under each Bush so it's twice), well you get the drift. My favorite was that if in bombing you destroy a Cities sewage plant that is guilt of Bacterial Warfare. It's all stuff like that. Things that no one especially a card carrying Republican would accept as crimes. None of it is breaking domestic laws. Nixon and Trump stand along in this. Just misdirection and smoke screen.
Each of you should watch this whole thing. It's really boring but it gives great incite about right wing arguments.

What is it with the right that they remember all of the Partisan accusations but never seem to remember that none were ever proven in all of those things.
People in the Nixon administration were convicted and went to prison. He would too but he was pardoned. Even his own party finally admitted the guilt. No pardon for anyone but Nixon.
Reagan administration over Iran/Contra. People were convicted and went to prison. Reagan testified that he didn't know they were doing it. Reagan's wife hated (yes hated) Oliver North forever after all this for tainting her husbands presidency. No pardon for any of them.
Donald Trump. People in his administration were convicted and sent to prison. He pardoned several as he seemed to like what they did.

Worked with the Democrats for years, a close friend of the Clintons and donated to their Foundation, the family also provided campaign funds to politicians like Harris, inherited from a father who gained from cheap gov't housing projects, and took advantage of provisions benefiting the rich from his, Dubya's, and Obama's admin.
