I don't think JPD said that there's a gap in their data, but merely a gap in what has been released.A "gap" during the actual shooting huh? Rather convenient.
I agree that this deserves some serious scrutiny, as should every death in custody--at the very least to see if there's anything to be done to prevent another one--but I just don't think there was wrong doing on the officers' part.
Though, I am of course open to changing my mind if something comes to light.
The angle of the wound may tell us a little more that might be worth knowing. I think that if the angle shows the gun was significantly below his head, it would indicate that he was trying to stash the gun and had an accidental discharge.
