Formula One will be plunged into darkness for its first night race in 58 years - but Lewis Hamilton has never seen his destiny more clearly.
As he prepared for Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix, the McLaren driver told how he has created a focus for his ambition - a single white digit.
"When I have No.1 on my car, that is when I will have proved I'm the best," said Hamilton.
"Every driver has to believe they're the best. If you go into it thinking, 'I'm not as good as this guy', then you're never going to beat them.
"But I've never been one to say, 'Hey, I'm the best here'. It might come back to bite you in the butt."
Halfway across the world from where he suffered at the hands of yet more dubious FIA decision-making on Monday, the Brit has decided his own form of justice - mocking the initials of the sport's world governing body. A running joke in the paddock is that FIA stands for Ferrari International Assistance.
Hamilton intends to ensure that with or without assistance he is top of the pile after the final four races of the season.
| 1st night F1 race in Singapore and the whole of Singapore is abuzzed with excitement So who do u think will win this race?

SINGAPORE (AFP) — World championship leader Lewis Hamilton and his nearest challenger Felipe Massa dominated the opening practice for the Singapore Grand Prix Friday, driving under lights for the first time.
The Briton pushed his McLaren around the bumpy Marina Bay street circuit in 1:45.518 to finish 0.080 of a second faster than the Ferrari-driving Brazilian, who is one point behind Hamilton with four races left.
Ferrari's defending champion Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest with Heikki Kovalainen in a McLaren fourth and BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica fifth.
Rain pelted Singapore Friday morning but it had cleared by evening with the track dry and the weather hot and humid as the drivers clocked as many laps as possible to familiarise themselves with the circuit and conditions.
Not everyone found the going easy.
Australia's Mark Webber in a Red Bull became the first Singapore casualty, crashing into the barriers on turn 18 during his fifth lap. His front right wheel was mangled but he walked away unscathed.
Several other cars had close shaves with Red Bull's David Coulthard, Toyota's Jarno Trulli, Kovalainen, Honda's Rubens Barrichello and Renault's Nelson Piquet all spinning.
Toyota's Timo Glock set the early pace before Hamilton, Massa and Raikkonen took over.
Raikonnen, 21 points behind Hamilton and needing a miracle to retain his title, struggled to find his groove before his tyres warmed up and he hit the top of the time sheets on the hour mark.
But he held the lead for just minutes with Hamilton soon taking charge, as the 23-year-old went even quicker 70 minutes into the 90 minute session on his 14th lap for the fastest time.
Massa grabbed second from Raikkonen on his last lap.
Sebastian Vettel, who stunned the field to win the last Grand Prix in Italy, came 11th in his Toro Rosso, more than two seconds behind.
A second practice session is held later Friday.

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton set the pace almost all the way through Friday evening’s second session of practice for the Singapore Grand Prix, only to be pipped at the post by his old adversary, Fernando Alonso.
Hamilton was deposed briefly by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, whose 1m 45.793s bettered the Englishman’s 1m 45.805s, then pushed ahead again with 1m 45.752s. That appeared to have settled the issue in McLaren’s favour, but right at the end Alonso took his Renault round in 1m 45.654s...

2 hours ago Quote:
SINGAPORE (AFP) — The Singapore street circuit is too bumpy and a cause for concern, some of Formula One's top drivers say, but they are thriving on the challenge.
The island is hosting its inaugural Grand Prix and has been widely praised for putting on a spectacular show, but the city streets are proving problematic.
World championship leader Lewis Hamilton said it was twice as hard to negotiate as the more famous Monaco street circuit.
"Through certain corners there was lots of bottoming, and when you hit a bump it would throw the car around quite a bit - but it's an amazing venue," said the McLaren driver.
"It's a very physical circuit - more than I expected, actually," he added.
"You need to put a lot of work into the car to get a good lap. I'd say it requires double the energy of Monaco over a single lap. One lap around here is like two laps of Monaco."
His teammate Heikki Kovalainen is also wary about the bumps
"The track was quite bumpy. Perhaps we should also look at the pit entry - it could be quite difficult if a driver decides to pull into the pits at the last minute," he said.
"However, everything else about the track is fine. This place has got some difficult corners but I quite like all the sectors."
Ferrari's title challenger Felipe Massa agreed with Kovalainen about the pit entry.
"The entry and exit to the pit lane could turn out to be a bit critical in the race," he said.
"In general, the track surface has a lot of grip but in some points there are some bumps that are a bit of a pain.

Published Date: 27 September 2008 Quote:
FERRARI'S Felipe Massa is in pole position for Formula 1's first ever night race in Singapore following a scorching final lap in qualifying.
His fastest lap, under floodlights on the Marina Bay street circuit, was six tenths of a second quicker than McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, with fellow Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen slotting in in third and BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica taking fourth spot on
the grid.
Bad luck dogged Renault's Fernando Alonso, who was going great guns until a suspected fuel supply problem saw him slip to 15th.
Brackley-based Honda's Jenson Button will start Sunday's grand prix in 12th spot, with fellow driver Rubens Barichello in 18th place.
Giancarlo Fisichella, driving for Silverstone-based Force India, saw his weekend go from bad to worse, following up his crash in practice with a second smash in the first qualifying session before he had even completed a lap. Force India team-mate Adrian Sutil finished 19th on the grid.

| Re: F1 Singapore Grand Prix I'm going to miss the Grand Prix..
However Massa should not be underestimated as he has become something of a street circuit specialist. Plus if Hamilton dares to overtake him the F.I.A (Ferrari Insurance Agency) will find some way to make sure we get the result Ferrari wants... Maybe the FIA should be renamed ABM (Anyone But Mclaren?) |

Yeah well, since Micheal Schumacher made Ferrari that famous, I have always been a Ferrari fan but let's see, I never liked 'cold fish' Kimi Raikkonen of McLaren much
But I agree the hot favorite is McLaren's Lewis Hamilton.... Alonso is another wild card to watch as well... when I never suspect it, he wins in the most unlikely of races |
