There are really only two logical choices; Micheal Beasley or Derrick Rose, with OJ Mayo as the slim possibility to crack the top 2.
Derrick Rose: Profile YouTube - The Best Of Derrick Rose.
Michael Beasley: Profile YouTube - Michael Beasley Mix
So, who goes no.1? The king of the frosh, or the freshman point guard who led his team to the NCAA finals?

Yeah, where you're from shouldn't matter a whole lot, but I don't think Beasley is so much better than Rose that you should pass up the hometown pick.
Also, I don't foresee Mayo going in the top half of the first round due to character issues. It's not as relevant as football, but it matters nonetheless.

Guard Play is key in the NBA.
Unless they think Beasely is on par with the LeBron's and Kobe's of the world, you gotta go Rose here.

Whats so funny is the fact that Chicago has been drooling about getting an inside scorer since the Eddy Curry trade. Now that there is a chance to get a real scoring machine @ the 4 spot, a homer like Rose comes along as well. The bottom line is that Rose makes this Bulls team a high octane running offense, and it is nothing short of a pity Skiles is not this teams head coach. Skiles, a former NBA point guard, and nba game assist record holder, would have been the perfect coach to mold Rose into one of the best players in the league.
Derrick Rose is so athletic, he will most likely enter the league as the most athletic point guard in the NBA. One year ago there were question marks about Rose's ability to play the point, as he was seen as more of a combo guard. One season in Memphis hushed all doubters when they made it to the the NCAA finals carried by the freshman.
Something you can take to the bank? Kirk Hinrich, Ben Gordon, or Larry Hughes are on their way out.
Possible trade scenario's
1.) Bulls trade Kirk Hinrich to Portland for Reaf LaFrentz and Martell Webster
2.) Bulls trade Ben Gordon/Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng, Chris Duhon and a 2009 first round pick unrestricted to Houston for Tracy McGrady
3.) Bulls trade Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng and Tyrus Thomas to Denver for Carmelo Anthony
1.
PG- Rose/Duhon/Gordon
SG- Webster/Gordon/Sefolosh
SF- Deng/Nocioni/Thomas
PF- Thomas/Gooden/Noah
C- Noah/Gray/LaFrentz/Gooden
2.
PG- Rose/Gordon/Curry
SG- McGrady/Seflolsha/Gordon
SF- Nocioni/Thomas/Sefolosha
PF- Thomas/Gooden/Noah
C- Noah/Gray/Gooden
3.
PG- Rose/Duhon
SG- Gordon/Seflolsha
SF- Anthony/Nocioni
PF- Gooden/Noah/Nocioni
C- Noah/Gray
Trade no.1 seems the most probable, although the other two are based on rumors yet make sense.
There could be an offer for Thomas or Deng that might entice the Bulls enough to pick Beasley, but until the numbers come out later today, im saying Rose.

Unless its an offer of Nowitizki, Wade, McGrady, or something along those lines, the no.1 pick will be a Bull come June 27th.
Another thing is salary issues. Those players mentioned above are making an upwards of $15 annually. That means Paxon will have to match salaries up to 10 % (around $1.5 million) in proximity. Contracts with Hughes and Gooden allow the possibility, but that would place their respective teams in rebuild mode with an unusally high team salary, of which attendance could suffer and result in a net loss for the team. LA, New York, and Chicago are shielded from such possibilities but 2nd market teams dont have quite the "audience" so to say. |
