Rockets win 20th game in a row

Which puts them in the same league with the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks, the only other 2 teams in the history of the NBA to ever accomplish this feat. The last 8 games of the winning streak were without Yao Ming, who is out for the year with a hairline fracture. Wins in the last 8 games have included Dallas, New Orleans, Denver, and Golden State, all either playoff bound, or in contention for a playoff spot.

One more win and the Rockets move alone into second place all-time. Catching the Celtics is a different matter, though, since that winning streak was 33 games. I don't think that record will ever be broken.

Tonight, the Rockets had an off night, only shooting 34% from the floor, and making their worst first half start all season, but lucky for them, Atlanta had an off night too.

A big shout out to the Houston Rockets.

Yea, I gotta admit, about 2 weeks ago I would have said baloney! But since then, they've proven thier quality many times over.

Losing Yao Ming though... I don't know... That's a purdy big hurt right there.

*A slight correction! The 33 winning streak belongs to the 1971-72 Lakers.

Yup, next week is going to be a tough one for the Rockets. They play the Lakers, the Celtics, and New Orleans again, all in one week. Ouch. I think the streak may be coming to an end.

The C's are riding a 10 game win streak. The Cs also see the Spurs, Rockets, and Hornets this week - a tough road. But, if the Lakers don't end the streak, don't be surprised if the C's do.

Update - the Rockets have now won game 21 and the Cs streak is over.

Still look for the Cs to end the streak if the Lakers don't.

Lakers didn't. The streak is at 22. Celtics come into town Tuesday. That is going to be a great game.

Yea, bummer! That was an intense game too. Rockets were on fire behind the arc.

The Kings should have never traded Bobby Jackson (among other stupid moves, including firing Adelman...). Bobby is such a spark plug.

The fact they are doing this without Yao makes it even more amazing. They owned the Lakers in the last five minutes of that game. Impressive.

They owned the Lakers in the first 5 minutes too. Between the first 5 minutes and the last 5 minutes, though, it was a freaking nail biter. Rockets were up 15 at the half, but the Lakers came back quickly. I remember the first game of the year, when the Rockets beat the Lakers. Rockets were up 14 points with about 3 minutes to go in the game, and the Lakers came back and tied it before the Rockets got the winning shot at the buzzer. That was one hell of a game.

And getting Jackson was probably one of the best moves the Rockets have made in years.
