Not really an MMA fight... but something I figure would be worth watching. It'll hold me over until Silva knocks out Dan next month.
Also, Frank Shamrock and Cung Le fight next month. We have a big few months coming up in MMA!

I wouldn't be so sure about Silva. Henderson is a little bigger than Silva is used to fighting.

How's about throwing a true, current MMA fighter into the ring with Slice?
Although...thinking about it....I'd almost love to see a Ken Shamrock vs. Slice card. |

He has one punch KO power for about 2 minutes and after that he's done. His time has been over for quite a while. Kimbo Slice has shown he can beat wash ups and nobodies. If the rumors are true and Ken Shamrock is going to fight in the Elite XC HW division, then a Shamrock/Slice matchup will be the best thing for Slice to see if he can beat the king of washups.
I don't particularly care for Elite XC. They have exciting fights, but the fights are exciting because the fights are either horrible mismatches, or guys that are relatively unskilled and leave themselves open.
Henderson is smaller than Rich Franklin, but is a superior wrestler. I expect that A. Silva might have trouble in this fight, but if A. Silva dominates this fight then I don't see anybody in the MW division in any organization that can beat him. Maybe Lindland would have a chance, but the UFC won't sign him because of some dispute with him and Dana White from the past.

Lean: Centrist | Re: MMA fans... I was joking about Shamrock mainly because of the way Tito Ortiz made him look like such an ***.
But since Tito is leaving UFC thanks to Dana White maybe a Slice/Ortiz card could be put together?
That would be cool....but Ortiz is lighter in weightclass right???? |

That would be cool....but Ortiz is lighter in weightclass right???? | Well there are substanial rumors that Ken Shamrock will fight as a HW for Elite XC. Tito Ortiz is a LHW, but I imagine he would forgoe cutting weight to 205, and fight as a HW if the matchup and money were right. There are also unsubstantiated rumors that Tito might try his hand at running his own MMA org.
The Frank Shamrock/Cung Le fight is an interesting one. I would think that Frank should take that matchup, since he would have an obvious advantage on the ground. Cung Le is an outstanding striker though, and nobody really knows how good his ground game really is. But Cung Le is really small for his weight division. He would get eaten up in the UFC. |

Shamrock vs. Gracie and such. |

Shamrock vs. Gracie and such. | Back then it was more pure martial arts/fighting styles pitted against each other. It could never be that way again, at least not in the US. States wouldn't sanction it. And with the cross training of the martial arts in MMA, size advantages now do come into play. Gracie got pounded out by Matt Hughes easily.
I tend to look back on the beginning of the UFC fondly, but realize that those fighters with singular disciplines could never be successful in todays MMA, even without rules. |

Absolutley true. What MMA did was combine those styles into something completley new and dominating. Even Royce has commented on this.
